Ok i got my new bengal boys Friday night. Yesterday i noticed lil bugs on them realized it was fleas
emailed the breeder she said they were given frontline plus a couple of days ago and strongid for deworming. Im not sure what to do, i went to the store and got a flea comb yesterday and ive been doing that and i just comb them out once i see them. What else can i do to get these off? They also stay in one room with me and sleep on my bed

Any advice ive never had kitties b4 and im all itchy now lol

Congrats on the new kitty. Dealing with fleas can be a pain, but it sounds like they were already treated so most of the work has already been done. The frontline would remain active for the rest of the month, so over time the flea population will be eliminated. I would continue brushing them with the flea comb and also try bathing. Vacuuming the area in a week wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for the quick response. I wasnt sure about bathing since i didnt want to rinse off the flea meds lol. I also got some carpet flea killer stuff from walmart that u sprinkle down then vaccum. Havnt tried that yet since the kitties cant be around it while its down on the carpet.

I wouldn't put anything over the counter down on your carpets, not a good idea. Wait till morning than call your vet. They usually have area treatments for fleas in their inventory or they can recommend something. But you are working with toxins and so if your vet gives you the stuff at least he has knowledge of the product and you have back-up should something go wrong-

I agree, I would just keep using the flea comb. One thing I recommend is doing this in the bathroom or somewhere where there is no carpet. The last thing you want is for fleas to get in your carpet - talk about itchy

Bathing the kitty is the best way to get the fleas off the kitty. Flea comb right after towel drying the cat before the fleas have a chance to bounce back. Have a cup of water with dishwashing liquid in it to drop the fleas into when you comb them off. The dishwashing liquid breaks the tension so the fleas cannot jump off the water, they will sink and drown.Make sure that the fleas that are in the tub go down the drain. Do this until you no longer find fleas or flea dirt on your kitty.

Vacuum the rooms your kitty goes into and take the vacuum bag outside to throw it away as the fleas can crawl out. Wash the kitty's bedding and dry it in a hot dryer. This will kill any flea larvea or eggs.

You can add cedar shavings to their sleeping areas by putting some in a pillow case that zips shut. The aroma of the cedar will repell fleas. When the cedar loses it's scent dump it and refill with fresh.

The flea trick
: At night, leave a small lamp on--preferably one with an adjustable neck to aim the light down at the table--- set a shallow bowl of water underneath the lamp---The fleas will be attracted to the warmth of the light, jump for it, and drown.

Just for your information- fleas can swim. If you put a tiny bit of Dawn liquid soap in the water, then they will drown. You can also buy flea traps which do work. They are lights with shades and on the inside of the shade is sticky tape. The fleas are attracted to the light, jump and get stuck in the goo

Thanks all!!!

Well i took them to the vets today. Vet said the frontline is doing its job and the fleas look sick and they arent able to reproduce. So they said dont worry and they gave me another application of advantage to put on in about 2 wks just to make sure all is gone.

Vet or no vet -- I would not put advantage on your cat until the frontline has worn off in 6 weeks. Never. My sister works at a vet and they have many-- MANY cats and dogs come in with neurological problems because they were given spot on treatments too close together. I am shocked that a vet would tell you to put the advantage on in two weeks, while the frontline remains on your cat and kills fleas for 6 weeks as per the package. I stongly, strongly recommend that you don't listen to your vet on this one. I bet if you called the manufacturer of frontline they would tell you the same thing.
