I have a DVD recorder which we have converted all our family videos over to DVD on. I would like to make other copies for family and a backup for us. I thought it was going to easy and wonderful because I have a CD Creator by Roxio program on my PC that has a simple button to copy CD/DVD. In my PC tower I have a DVD player and a separate CD player. When I inserted the recorded DVD as instructed in the DVD drive. It then said to put the blank DVD in . Which I did but since I didn't have another DVD drive I put it in the CD drive. It said the drives were not compatible. I am just wondering how people get this make copies of their DVDs. Certainly you cannot copy an entire DVD onto your hard drive and then transfer it back, can you? I'm just looking for some help.

Did it ask you to put the blank DVD right after you put the original in?

When I make copies of DVDs, the software will read the original, then ask me to put the blank in. At that point I can remove the original and put the blank in instead.

Also, is your drive a DVD player or a DVD burner? If you want to make copies of DVDs, you need a DVD burner. They're not very expensive to get.
If you had both a DVD player and a DVD burner, you could just put the original in the player and the blank in the burner and you wouldn't have to switch discs.

If all you have is a DVD player, you'll just have to copy the videos with your DVD recorder more than once.

If you don't have a DVD player and a DVD burner, yes, I would say copy the entire DVD to your hard drive so you can burn the other copy.

Thank you! I tried looking for information on my original components of when I ordered, but could not find anything. I am going to assume I only have a DVD player I didn't realize I could store a whole DVD on the hard drive. Thank you !
