So, I ditched the idea of the tropical rainforest kitchen. I just wasn't feeling it. I got one stupid statue off Ebay and have been staring at it wondering what to do next....It was messing up my "kitchen chi"...
Anyway, for some reason, the thought struck me last night, I will do an Irish Pub kitchen! I LOVE this idea, and the decor I'm thinking about is so much more ME than the tropical theme. Plus, I know I can get a lot of cool stuff at flea markets and stuff, I won't have to buy all new. The start of my kitchen has been a bucket, a hanging copper bell, and a set of old looking keys on a big ring to hang on the wall. I went to World Market and they had some cool stuff! Expensive there, I'll have to do it over some time. Any ideas for what else I can do in there? I was thinking of painting the walls a rich cream color, and one wall maybe green, adding some nice pics, etc....
You know how like bamboo is a thing of Asian culture, and wine glasses are a thing of Italian, etc....what kinds of stuff reminds you of Ireland? Fieldstones, for sure, really green meadows, beer...
All suggestions would be appreciated. I'm so excited, I KNOW this is the kitchen I've been wanting. I can't wait to start putting it all together!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, it's not going to be a lot of leprechauns and shamrocks all over either!!

The first thing I think of when I think Ireland is BEER!
Maybe, instead of painting the walls, you could cut opens hundreds of beer cans & use them as wallpaper?
I think it would be a nice touch!

Haha, do you suggest I drink all the beer first? Then my kitchen would look REALLY interesting! (At least, to me it would!
)

You can't have an irish kitchen without a claddagh picture or incorporated into your decor! I love the idea! It certainly will be unique!

Sheep - sheep everywhere! Wandering in the middle of the roads!
Ruins and castles, also everywhere.... Rainbows - we saw at least one rainbow every day!

I've been in an Irish kitchen. It's looked like an American kitchen

Hmmm.... Lace curtains are a must. The claddaugh is a great idea. A Celtic cross over the door. Maybe some pictures of Ireland? Or paintings?

Well...
probably anything inside, I need indoor decor ideas, like I know I want it to have a little feminine touch like a small vase of flowers, but what kind of flowers? Bamboo is to Japan like ____ is to Ireland? Textures, patterns, types of rock, wood, glass, etc....

Maybe one but I don't want to do the typical shamrock/leprechaun thing...
I want it to look authentic...

Here's a cool site! If you have an Irish name, this site might have a picture of a pub bearing your name:

Pub posters:

This is a good site with cute interior pictures:

The Land of Cheese
Indoor walls in Ireland, especially in older houses and cottages, are often whitewashed. And of course the national colours are green and white.
