A few months ago one of my cats, Chips, escaped and was missing for the better part of a month. When we finally found him again, he was thin and rather lifeless compaired to his previous personality. We have been allowing him to eat plenty but no matter what he still hasn't gained back much weight. He also isn't as playful as he was prior to his outdoor adventure, but that doesn't concern me as much as his weight. Is there anything I can do to help him gain back some of the lost weight?

Depending on when he was wormed last, I would worm him. Then I would ask the vet for a tube of Nutri-cal- it is like hairball remedy you just spread some on his front paw or whiskers till he licks it off. You can also go to a health food store and get a bottle of cod liver oil and sprinkle tiny amounts over wet food. Nutri-yeast will help as well just sprinkle that over dry food, they don't really like the taste though so I always moisten the dry food first so the yeast sticks. Cooked green beans chopped really really fine added to wet food will help as well. Good luck!
