HI!!

Well it's been almost 6 months and we still have those 4 feral .... EX feral kittens plus our own 3. Full House. They are all settled in fine and i think the next few months i will be going about re-homing them. I can't wait to get back to the days of only having to clean ONE litter tray.

ANYWAY... teeney weeeney has developed an eye issue.

Her left eye has gotten fairly red and she is making a sort of fuffling noise which sounds a little like a sneeze but it also sounds like shes trying to blow something out of her nose. There is no real discharge of any sort except for yesterday evening when there was a little of that gooey stuff in the corner of her eye.

I will of course get the vet to come over if it doesn't clear up bu tomorrow or if it looks like it is getting worse....

Shoud i be worried about cat flu? They have all been in doors for the last 6 months. I have also had another cat with cat flu some years ago and the sneezing sound was very different.... teeney weeney sounds more like she's trying to get something out rather than a full on sneeze. but of course i'm sure the sound varies from cat to cat.

The only other thing i can think of that might be causing the red ness is two days ago i cleaned the bathroom and i used a new detergent called "Jif" ... it's a bath room cleaner which left a grainy sediment. I'm just wondering if she walked over it and then proceeded to rub some into her eye. This could be the reason for the redness as it started on that day. I have of course cleaned the bathroom again, this time using the old cleaner... and LOTS of water.

I hope it is not cat flu as... with 7 cats in the house ot could very well be an outbreak!

The same thing happened to my cat. He was sneezing a lot and his eye got red and was watering. He did have an upper respiratory infection and conjuctivitis (pink eye) in one eye. I had to put ointment in his eye 3 times a day for 10 days and it cleared up. This may be what your cat has. You should probably take her to the vet. From what I've seen from the internet if you let eye issues go they can get pretty bad.

Good luck.

well thanks for the reply!

i will keep an eye on her today and tomorrow.
her eye seems to be a little less red this evening and she is no longer making that fuffling noise.

if her symptoms don't clear up by tomorrow night i'll call the vet ad get her to make a house call.
