I suggest Feline Pine, I have experimented with a ton of different brands and that is the only one that not only gets rid of odor but the urine turns to sawdust so it doesn't smell it all. I have 7 cats by the way and 8 litterboxes in a 2 bedroom apartment, upstairs and downstairs.

they'll get used to it faster than you will!

Ok, I'm probably gonna get some this Friday. Anyone here use it and NOT like it? It's a different consistancy too, like little balls of litter, not dusty sand or hard clay chunks...I'm hoping the crew will like it!

I read in here some time back about using layer chicken feed for litter. Since I have multiple cats, (9 at the moment), I am always looking for ways to cut costs without causing any health risks to the cats I thought it was worth a try. I am soooooooooooooo pleased with how it works that I recommend to all my friends now that they ought to give it a try as a healthy and inexpensive litter.

I had been previously using Worlds Best and liked it, but $33.00 for a 34 lb. bag was hitting me pretty hard in the wallet.

Chicken feed doesn't clump quite as hard as Worlds' Best, but it does clump and contains odor great.

I have 6 boxes and generally clean them daily, but on occasion have gone two days in between with no problems.

I guess I should mention that most of my cats are indoor/outdoor cats and I'm sure that helps a lot.

I get the chicken feed for $7.50 for a 50 lb. bag and not only does it last well, I don't cringe when I have to change them all out.

Now it's easier to afford the 4 15 lb. bags of quality cat food that my little furballs manage to chow down.

I like Tidy Cat for multiple cats too. Like you, I used to use Arm & Hammer but found that it does not control the odor at all.

We own a Litter Robot too. The Litter Robot is a great automated litter box. Since we switched to the Litter Robot we have virtually no litter box odor. That being said, we also switched out kitty from canned/dry food to a completely raw diet so that switch has something to do with the reduced odor as well. All in all I HIGHLY recommend the Litter Robot. It has made litter box duty much easier for us. In addition, when we go away for weekend ski trips our cat sitter is much happier with litter box duty as well.

Most importantly, Max is happy that his bathroom is always clean.

I've got 8 cats and 8 litterboxes right now and have 1/2 w/ World's Best and 1/2 with Arm and Hammer Clumping. I tried Tidy Cats but the amonia smell was too strong for some reason. One cat would pee and the whole box would need to be dumped out. I really really like World's Best so far but it is really really expensive. Never had a problem with Arm and Hammer either. I scoop twice a day. I use the Arm and Hammer Litterbox Deoderizer (basically baking soda) as well. My house never smells like I have 8 cats, or even 1 for that matter. I buy new boxes every 6 months, bleach them once a month and completely dump the litter every two weeks.

You aren't by any chance giving the kitten milk??? That does a number on them!! I have Sweatscoup the cats like it and Tidycat muticat clumping. I have odors in the warm months as the boxes are in the basement but try to contain it by running a dehumidifier. The cats also have the great outdoors which a couple actually prefer. That can be a problem too!!

wow! That's a WONDERFUL tip. I will try that as soon as this my current bag of world best is gone. One quick, and im sure a bit of a silly question, but where would i buy chicken feed at? I've never had to buy it before, hehe Thank you ssoooo much! The $35 a bag is starting to kill me, lol. If it works as well as you say it does, Im going to want to kiss you.

Ashley...

Any pet and feed store where you can buy hay or straw. Perhaps a Tractor Supply store, but I'm not sure about that: it'd be better to call and ask. Look in your phone book for a Farm Supply and give a call.

I sometimes forget that not everyone lives in such a rural place as we do.

Good luck and let me know how it worked out.
