Saw the ad in the paper so Tara called and they had two little females. Went to look at them on lunch and came home with both. Woman we got them from saved 4 of them from being put to death by gas that day as she was visiting the shelter. Will hopefully have pictures of all 4 of our cats this weekend up.

Old cats don't seem to like the new kitties so far. They are doing a lot of sniffing and hissing at them. Hopefully this is just normal for old and new cats. Do most cats act just like this towards new ones at first?

What wonderful news to hear that you saved these little ones!!, I can't wait to see pics!. It is very normal for cats to not like eachother very much at first. I'm sure that they will come to love (or at least tolerate eachother)
soon enough!

I hope so, Tyson and Tinkerbell had a look in their eyes that they were so upset/hurt. I feel kind of bad now.

Congratulations. If you go to the behavior section, you should be able to find some threads on introducing cats. I have having a hard time accessing it right now though. I can't wait to see pics

Yup, 4 cats now.

And the woman also said if we do have any problems with them not getting along or we can't handle them to let her know and she would take them back in. She is a obviously a very caring woman when it comes to cats. She has 3 of her own adult cats that don't do very well with young ones, so she locked her own 3 out on the porch while she showed us the kittens.

We did thank her for saving them though and told her how nice it was of her.

Haven't named them yet. Kind of a funny story about the names. Tyson and Tinkerbell were our first ones, and we thought we had a boy and girl. Well now we found out that Tinkerbell is really a male
so I am renaming him and Tara is naming the two new females.

So now we have myself and the two, older male cats, and then Tara and the two female kittens.

It'll be battle of the sexes at our house. Boys will want to watch sports and the ladies will want to watch Golden Girls or American Idol.

Man, if I would have read the posts about how difficult a lot of the introductions were for some people I might not have taken either of the two new ones. Does anybody have any smooth intros?

I think that because you have 2 new kittens, it will go pretty smoothly. You have to expect them to growl and hiss at first. When I bought Simba home as a kitten, I didn't have to seperate him at all. My older cats hissed at him once, and he hissed back once, and that was it.

When I got SunLee who was already an adult, it took 2 weeks before she could join the family. Primarily it was because she was so terrified. Now she's Simba's little play pal, and she just adores him.

Ms Angel is a different story. She still is not very accepting of my cats, and it's been over a month. She has her own room, and does not want to come out and be a part of the cat family, yet. She growls and hisses at my other cats, but it's because she is scared of them. She especially doesn't like Simba, because he's such an agressive and extremely playful little Bengal. The night I brought Angel home, Simba was extremely mad at me. He growl and hissed at me, as much as he did Angel. He was unhappy until I put Angel in her own room, and then he was happy again. Now, all he wants to do is get in her room and pounce on her, and because of that, she is terrified of him. Introducing Angel to the family has not been an easy transition. However, I'm willing to give her all of the time she needs.

Congratulations on getting two new kitties!!!

I can't wait to see the piccies!

Well, my intros didn't go to well - It took me two MONTHS to get Diesel to accept Portia! But I think that had a lot to do with the fact that she was so young and had never had a mother!

Hope all the intros go nice and smoothly! Just remember to give lots of love and affection to your "old" babies so they don't feel left out!

Haha I love that Diesel, so cute!!

Hopefully everything is going well. I'm pretty nervous to go home now. We didn't get the new kitties home until 3 and I had to head right back to work and Tara had to leave about a half hour later. She sat with the 4 of them until she had to leave. Now they are all home alone in the cat room together for about another 1 1/2. I hope everything is ok.

Although the introduction of Captain and Kanoe didn't go so well... intoducing Toulouse to the family was remarkably easy. I think it was because he was so little.

Yey! And congratulations on your bigger family!!

Thank you. It will certainly be interesting doubling everything up, food, litter, sharing our bed before they go to sleep.

Should be fun though.

It will all work out I'm sure, I had 2 cats 1 male 13 yrs old and 1 female that was 8yrs old and I brought 2 more in that I rescued year before last, and 5 in this this past year well actually 6 all girls, 5 baby girls I found homes for 2 and I kept Sissy ( Mommy) and Ziggy, Zazzy and Zinger
had 17 in all in the last 2 years (rescuses)
they were all spayed, neutered, shots testing and wormed, and I couldn't part with Sissy and the 3 girls it took me a year to catch her, and by then 5 babies were included. All of ours are fine with each other, it just takes some time, they are all in the same age range except my 2 older ones. Dunkin and Miniman are about a 1 1/2 yrs old so is Sissy and the 3 girls are about 8 or 9 mos... Good luck

How exciting that you got 2 new babies!!

I'm really excited to see pictures of them!

How did your house look when you got home with all them being alone today?! Do you still have a house?!

Good luck with the introductions!

I'm heading home in about 10 minutes. I'll let you know how the room looks. Well, unless they tore the computer up since the computer is in the cat/computer room.

I think all cats go through that into phase of hissing/chasing etc.....You might have to keep them seperated when you aren't home. When I brought Bakker home he had some health problems which made him a bit calmer than average not too many adjustments problems (other than ringworm!!!)
We have the battle of the sexes too myself and 2 girls, Neil and the 2 boy cats.
Make sure you have enough food dishes and more litterboxes.
