Does anyone know how much water/fluids an 18month old cat (approx 9lbs) needs to stay hydrated?
As some of you've seen on my previous post - Molly is sick. She is not dehydrated now and I would like to keep it that way.
I made an appointment for her to see the vet Thursday (earliest they could fit us in) and want to maintain her fluid intake until then.
Thanks!

can the vet give you some direction? i have no idea how much she would need, or how to find that out! i tried searching, but no amounts are given in any of the web pages i found dealing w/hydration in cats.

Thanks so much.
That's what I'm finding too - nothing. Figured I'd try asking, but you're right - I should probably try the vet as well. Maybe they can help.

Call the vet and ask ... I read a general for cats eating dry food of 4 to 6 ounces but I would be calling ...

After thinking about it, I decided not just to call and ask the vet, but instead I asked to move up her appointment from Thursday to today. So we went this afternoon and I feel better. Even though she was in no immediate danger, I'm glad I didn't wait until thursday. It just feels better to have the experts take look. Molly's on an antibiotic just in case of a secondary infection and even though she was not really dehydrated, we got a drip for her anyway and I'm glad we did. She's still very quiet tonite, but she did at least eat about 1/3 can of food.
