Callie, our 10 year old dominant cat, has taken to terrorizing Hannah, our 8 month old cat if Hannah's in a spot Callie wants to sleep in. For example, if Hannah is sleeping in the basket in our bedroom, Callie will walk over to her, and repeatedly whack Hannah on the head as if to say, "Get out of my spot." If that doesn't work, which it seldom does, Callie will start play-attacking Hannah. There's no hissing, growling, or yelping, but lots of paw swiping. Usually, Callie doesn't "win" and she sulks away, finding another spot to lay down.

Why is Callie doing this? Is this normal? They've only been together for about 5 weeks and they are finally beginning to play together without any serious hissing.

Yes it's normal ok, because Callie is basically letting Hannah know that " I'm alpha in this house and don't forget it tich!!"

Rosie did this with Sophie at first by giving her the odd bop on the head if Sophie tormented her and Sophie would crouch down beside her, but she'd be back up again later jumping sideways towards Rosie as if to say " Come on then big girl, get me!! "
