Okay, here's the deal. I have kind of an odd body: at 5' 4", I have a 32-inch inseam, and thus, necessarily, a short rise and short torso overall. I was watching some Today show thing that said that either for most women or for pear-shaped women (can't remember for sure which), the best place for your pants' waist is about two inches below the belly button.

I have suspected for some time that that my belly button is "low," and this confirmed it. Because frankly, if I were to wear jeans that started two inches below my navel, I would be one sneeze away from "crack kills" territory.

Anyone else have this issue?

when bending over in low rise jeans I do.
I don't know how these little size 2 girls do this and not show their arses.

My teens wear those jeans and everytime they put them on I say - "oh, I see you decided to wear your plumbers jeans today"

So now that's what we call them - not low rise - plumbers jeans!

Yeah, low rise and I don't get along too well either! Two inches below my belly button would be dangerously low!

i'm a leggy 5' 6", and lowrise jeans show about half my backside to the planet if I forget to wear a long shirt with them. the only thing I really like about them is that being hip-high means they do not put uncomfortable pressure on my stomach when I am sitting.

I agree lol. I always mention to my boyfriend when we see a girl who's bending over but not exposing her rear, "I swear they don't have cracks"!

At a little over 5'8", I too have trouble with low rise jeans. I do like to have a little fun when I see someone's rear hanging out. I spot it & say(loud enough for them to hear) "Crack attack!"
To me, it's really gross.

Okay, I feel a little better. They way they were talking, two inches below your belly button shouldn't be anywhere NEAR crack territory, but like I said, literally, for me, if I wore jeans with a waistband two inches below my navel, I would be theeees close to indecent exposure. In fact, I just checked, and for me to wear jeans that low, the zipper would only be about two inches.

I do like low-rise jeans—just not THAT low.
