A friend of mine said she had been feeding her cats almost all canned food but when she tood them to the vet one had really green teeth(?) The vet said it was from eatting to much wet food, Is there any truth in that? Also I'm sure what she was feeding was cheaper brands like Friskies

Also another question re: teeth do cats lose them as they get older? I was looking in Trias mouth the other night and it seems like she was missing teeth....She will be 12 in April

Canned food is healthier for your cat. Dry food does not clean their teeth as some people claim. Cheaper brands with by-products are not very good for your kitty. It would be like you or me eating McDonald's every meal all our lives. You should read the ingredients on the can and beef, chicken or whatever meat should be the first ingredient and no by-products listed.

There are several threads on food in this forum. Do a search and read up on some of the previous threads and comments.

Vets don't always know much about nutrition since this isn't a big part of their study course to become a vet.

Thanks that is what I thought would have caused the green teeth in my friends cat, My Tria gets Nutro Natural I just switched her over after posting on this forum, she is loving it she is also getting wet food for the first time in her life cause I just never knew better, She is so funny when it is feeding time she eats on a counter so the dog can't eat the food but they get fed at the same time in the morning and if I feed Tria first the dog paces back and fourth in front of the counter and Tria growls at her, she has never really cared about eatting before she just did it...now she really enjoys it

In my friends case I wish she had internet access so I could show her this site

Sounds like you are taking good care of your fur baby. Invite your friend over to read up on some of these posts.

Or, you can print out the thread too. I just switched my cats too and they're already doing better on the canned!

here's a good myth buster for the belief that "dry food is better for the cat's teeth"

http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.ph...dcleantheteeth

you could print off this article and show it to ur friends, and have her carefully examine her cat eating habbits, after she sees her cat gulp down the dry food WITHOUT chewing / chew very little, she'll be convinced that dry food is NOT better for the cat's teeth as ppl have claimed.
