What are the differences between the Korat, Russian Blue, and Chartreux?

They look alike to me.

Russian Blues are silver blue shorthairs but very dense coats (should be able to draw lines in the coat and it stays). They have deep green eye color.

Korats are silver blue but the coat is very close laying. They have green eye color.

Chartreux are blue (no silver), dense coat but GOLD eye color.

A good example of the 3 breeds should NEVER look the same. If you put them side by side, its very obvious.

Thank you for the detailed descriptions. Another site I go on catster.com, has pictures of cats and some people have cats with the breed names above and I was getting confused, because sometimes I couldn't tell the difference. The eye color is very helpful.

Thanks again.

My guys are on Catster and are pedigreed Russian Blues. Many people there will label their cats "Russian Blue" simply because the cat is blue. Hell, I've even seen some "Russian Blue" cats on Catster who weren't even blue.
Often, people just feel the need to classify their cats.

Look up Mik and Lex (Russian Blue) on Catster and you will see 2 purebred Russian Blues.

One more thing about Russian Blues is that they have a foreign type build. Their bone structure, although sturdy, is more fine than the Korat or Chartreux.

You just answered the question I, MYSELF< was going to ask! it is the Chartruex that is the cat body on Toothpick legs! LOL! When you put them together like that you can really see the difference.

In my NEXT life I am getting a Chartruex! LOL!

Vespa, I agree with the RB's being put on any blue color cat....lol I've looked on Petfinders and put in "russian blue" - about 80% are blue cats with gold eye color - no where NEAR what a RB is. I too breed them and maybe one day will get another as a pet. I still love that dense blue/silver fur with those deep green eyes.
