There was a strange boy in my bed last night

You won't believe who I had sleeping in my bed last night.....

Brody!

I was 100% against allowing him to sleep in our bed. Most of you know I am not a dog person, but I think I have come around. The most amazing thing about it was that Dori still slept in the bed too. This really made me happy because my main concern was making sure I did not upset Dori's routine.

My fiance believes Brody should be allowed on the sofa and in the bed, just like Dori is allowed. I wouldn't allow it before, but yesterday I came to the realization that I had not really accepted Brody as being a part of the family. So I had a talk with my fiance and explained to him I felt that I hadn't been as good a mommy to Brody as I should be, so I made some changes. He is allowed to lay with us on the couch now, and boy did he love that! He was cuddling right up between us Once I let him in the bed last night he stayed there all night and slept right in between us. Brody is 20 pounds and has a flat face. He layed on his back with his legs in the air and snored!

Anyway, I think that these changes will be very good for Brody and will allow him to feel like an official member of the family. Dori even chased after him playng last night I just feel like a lot was accomplished last night and wanted to share my excitement with you guys Thank you all for the wonderful advice you have given me on how to care for a dog. I still hold to not being a dog lover, but as a friend here mentioned, I don't have to admit to that I can just say I am a Brody-lover

That is too cute!
Lucky Brody, he found himself a loving family to be part of, and he sure did deserve it.

Dori is such a good girl. Sharing "her" bed with Brody is not a small thing in a kitty's world.
I am so glad that Brody is doing so will.

Congrats!

I know exactly how you are feeling. I've been going through the same thing with our new dog. Isn't it great when the transition goes smoothly?

Last night the dog was sleeping on my lap and Gracie jumped up and practically layed right on him - she really loves him.

I had to laugh - we decided right off the bat not to allow our dog on the couch "unless invited", and not to sleep on the bed at all - well, the couch thing lasted all of two days and the not sleeping on the bed lasted about a week... hehe

Uh huh, sure I believe you that you are not a dog lover (YET). Dogs have a way of worming their way into your heart, particularly if you are a fan of 4-legged furry critters.

I give you another week or 2 before you'll admit to being hooked by this guy.

I'm so glad to see things working out so well for you!!

That's fabulous Tanya! Sounds like Dori has really accepted Brody as part of the family too.

That's awesome. I would have the dogs on the bed if it would leave us ANY room at all - but they're 50kg between them, and with the cats Max and I would be on the floor.

I think it is so lovely what you've done for this pup. He is a very lucky boy to have found such an amazing home, and I think you may be being a little hard on yourself when you say you haven't been as good a Mummy as you think you could be. You are on here all the time asking questions about him, talking about him and getting advice, you genuinely are concerned for him, you have spent SO much of your time, energy, worry and I have no doubt money making sure that he is ok, and you have done incredible things to welcome this dog into your home and your heart. I think you're an amazing Mummy and the fact that Dori is so well adjusted and happy, too, means that you've done a marvellous job. Our cats aren't even adjusted to our dogs yet, I envy you!

You've made a little dog very happy, and you should be very proud of yourself. I'm so thrilled that you are coming to love him so much - cats are wonderful but dogs are wonderful, too, and you will have a lifelong, special, amazing relationship with your Brody, thanks to all the hard work you've done.

Awww thank you Sarah

Brody slept in bed for the second tie last night. When I woke up he was laying down by my legs where Dori always sleeps and when I stepped out of bed Dori was sitting there on the floor glaring at me, or maybe it was Brody she was glaring at
