What a feast, John! Lots of great pics, the furkids are wonderful as always, and it's great to see the ones of you and your wife cuddling with Carmelo.

Hey,

I've just read through your entire thread and wow, it's been facinating following along with what it's like sharing your life with those gorgeous big cats.

I hope you'll be able to find a place soon where you'll have the space to get Carmelo back but until then he's obviously loving your visits and he's in good hands where he's now.

I have a Bengal cat myself so I'm well aware of how intense they can be, I also know someone who has an F1 bengal and she sais that her boy is much more intense than "normal" bengals so I can just imagine the bond you must have with your cats.

Anyway thanks for sharing your story and photos with us in this thread and I'm looking forward to all updates
I am very happy that you enjoyed this thread so far
My wish is to share my experiences with everyone and to show the real truth on exotic animal ownership.

Aww... it all just makes my heart melt! They all look so happy and well loved. I espically love the one of Carmelo grooming you. He is massive but still gentle.

He sure is my boy
I am happy to see, that the pictures show how strong of a bond we have. As for the hair, I usually have it buzzed very short. But, I haven't had it cut in a while, so when he groomed me, his tongue grabbed a bunch of hair and pulled it
So, I just had my hair cut. He likes when it is short like that.
Great pictures as usual, John.
All the cats are beautiful, but I must say that Amber is my favorite...I just want to cuddle her she's adorable!
I will let her know and give her a hug and kiss for you

Yes, he is gentle
I should state however, since I may have not mentioned this in a while, that we don't just let anyone go in with these cats. All pictures showing anyone interacting with these cats, are either my wife and I, or other exotic cat owners who have the experience with these cats. When the "general public" comes to see them, they are not allowed to make contact with the cats. Allowing just anyone to go in with them, would be irresponsible. My goal here, is to show that with responsible ownership, these cats are not the "natural born killers" that most people think they are. They can and do, form strong bonds with their human companions, just like our smaller "domestic" cats do. However, you must always have a great deal of respect for them and remember, they are not toys or something you buy to be a show off. As I have always stated, I fully support the private ownership of these cats, but you must never be careless and as always, you have to be responsible in every thing you do. I guess I can say, my wife and I have no other life besides these cats and work
, but that is what it takes to live with them and living with them, is something I would not give up for anything

Oh WOW there's another batch of wonderful pictures. I absolutely looove the ones with you and your wife cuddling up with big fuzzy boy Carmelo
My favourite pic of this batch is where Carmelo's head is tilted to an angle as if to say "Hey, whazzup pal??"

Amber and Boris are looking good! Their heads must be so soft to touch...
And Nakoma is looking more like a fuzzy carpet than anything else. Such a handsome specimen.

With all your adorable cats at home, I really wonder how you and your wife can possibly tear yourselves away to go to work everyday!!

"Beast" doesn't look like a beast at all, in fact, he looks sweet and kind of goofy to me
Looking at the name, his owners might have wanted him for some selfish reason... Might not have been a bad thing that they decided to give him up

I love that head tilt picture too. I had the camera focused on him and he just tilted his head like that

They are very soft and you just want to bury your face in that soft fur, but them they look at you like, what in the world are you doing?

With all your adorable cats at home, I really wonder how you and your wife can possibly tear yourselves away to go to work everyday!!
That's why on many days, I am almost late for work

I had the same thought as well. Anytime I see a name like that, Beast, Killer and so on, makes me think they wanted the animal to look cool. Not a good idea. I too, feel he has a much better home now and will be very happy once he settles in

Ok, so I went to go visit my big boy again today. Now, if anyone had any doubt about how much I love my cougar, needs to take a look at these pictures
No, they are not cat pictures, but SNOW pictures. Yes, I said snow!! If it doesn't stop snowing, I am going to scream. It has been snowing non stop since Thursday. Now, I live in the heart of the "snow belt' in Northeast Ohio and having snow in April is not at all unusual. (I have seen it snow here the first week of May before) However, this is getting just down right aggravating!! We are not measuring the snow in inches, we are now measuring feet of snow. Something we would normally see in December. Well, I was debating if I should go, but when I was ready, we did manage to catch a brief break in the snow...so I thought. But, I am not going to let anything get in the way of me spending the day with my big boy

Looking out the front window, the snow has stopped. Ok Carmelo, here I come!!

I thought this was pretty as well.

Looking out the side window, I see that the snow is starting up again
(That fence in the lower part of the picture is now almost gone. That fence is 3 feet high.

So, I hop in the car and get the heck out of here, before it is to late. The road isn't too bad here, not yet anyway.

But, a new wave of snow hits and this is what I had to drive in for the next 30 miles or so.

After I started to head south and got out of the snow belt area, the snow ended. In fact, after another 10 miles or so heading south, there was no snow on the ground at all, just a few flurries in the air. That's how these lake effect snows go. When I returned home, it was the same thing. Snowing with complete white out conditions and it is still snowing. At around 10:30 this evening, I cleaned off my wife's car, there was a good 8 inches of snow on it and she got home from work around 4. I just looked at her car, there is close to another 3 inches on it and it is still coming down. Will it ever end??
Sorry, no big cat pictures this time

So, it's Easter Sunday morning, time to think spring right?
....Wrong, not here. Yep, it's STILL snowing
I know these are not cat pictures, but hey, I thought I would share the snow.
Looking out the front window Easter morning.

Apple trees buried in snow.

Lots of snow and it is still coming down.

Looking out our bedroom window.

I have to go dig out Nakoma....again. I almost couldn't get the enclosure doors open last night.

You may have already answered this but since this thread is over 50 pages its kinda hard to check...

Why is Amber so much smaller then the boys? She just seems so small for a Bobcat...

Have you ever been biten? I know that even house cats can bite out of fear... A bite from one of them, I'm sure could be a little more damaging...

Do you ever do bring them out anywhere for educational purposes?

What did you have to go through in order to be able to have these beautiful cats?

A woman I know who is a wildlife rehabilatator (spelling?) once had a Siberian tiger cub... I wish I had picture because he was the most awe inspiring thing you ever did want to see... He was still very tiny when she had him though. He only wieghed about 25 pounds. He was still breath taking... I'm pretty sure he went to go live at "Big cat rescue" nearby.

You question about Amber's size: You may have seen a picture of one of our domestics, along side the bobcats. Amber weighs about 30 pounds, but she is smaller than the males. This is true for most of the cat species. In general, females are smaller by about 1/3. This is also true for the big cats as well, like my cougar.
Have I ever been bitten? Yes I have, but these bites have always been by accident, while I have been playing with them. I have NOT been bitten out of aggression.
I do not bring them out for educational purposes, but I would like to. However, I need to get a USDA exhibitors license, before I can take them out for any type of showing, education or otherwise.
In my state, you need to get a permit, before the cat arrives in the state. The cat must come from a USDA licensed breeder, they can not be taken from the wild.
Gorgeous!

I want an exotic cat sobad...
If this is true and you ever decide that you want to own one, please make sure you do it for all the right reasons and that you are fully prepared for what it takes to own and live with these cats. It is a very rewarding experience, but a tremendous amount of work as well. As I have always stated, you must be responsible in everything you do. These cats are not something you own to be a show off or to look cool. You must be willing to give up most of your time to the welfare of these cats. I fully support the responsible private ownership of these wonderful cats, but as I have stated, you must do it for all the right reasons.

Looks like the climate's really changing for the worse
Well I'm glad the snow's finally stopped, John. Now you don't have to dig big boy Nakoma out and can start snapping shots of your kitties

Well, it's actually good to see that it did snow here in April, because having snow in the month of April is normal. I have even seen it snow here during the first week of May, but that only happens once every so many years. It did snow about 2 feet, during the first week of May, 2 years ago. 2 days later, the temperatures were in the 70's. Getting that much snow in May is not normal. I guess the thing about this latest snow, is that just 2 days before it started, it was sunny and 80 degrees. Flowers were starting to bloom, the spring peepers (frogs) were singing at night, I had the windows open in the house to let some good fresh air in. Mother nature sure can be a real tease at times, can't she?

No new pictures to post at the moment, but I thought I would post a link to a good article about the animal rights extremists. This would have been good to post on that other forum, that has since been closed. This is further proof that these AR extremists are a threat to each and every one of us

I am glad you looked at the site. I sure hope more people look at this site as well. I guess the majority of people will never believe me or what I say, about the animal rights extremist movement, until it happens to them. Unfortunately, by then, it will be to late. I can not stress enough, how real of a threat, these animal rights extremists really are. If they are allowed to continue unchecked, in the not to distant future, there will be no such thing as pets. The funny thing is, the federal goverment has classified these animal rights extremist groups as domestic terrorists, but still allows these groups to be tax exempt
They make millions of dollars, pay no taxes on that money, use the money for their own agenda, which is to eliminate ALL contact between man and animal and to pay lobbyists to push these ban bills through, but do not use the money to help animals and to educate people on responsible ownership (I am talking about all animals here, not just exotics).
