Another very interesting fact about cheetahs. They are the only cat WITHOUT retractable claws and they have special foot pads that allow them to come to a swift stop.
Wow, I never noticed the lines coming down from a cheetah's eyes. Looks like it was crying with mascara! What a beautiful cat.

WOW! I lurk more than I post in this forum... but how did I miss this thread?!?!? Your cats are beautiful and the pictures from the convention took my breath away. Who would have thought a cougar or a cheetah could be tamed? It's amazing to me that people keep exotic cats as pets! Just amazing! I want to know what it feels like to hug a cougar! You're lucky to be "owned" by those beautiful big cats

Yes, they can be tamed, but it takes a lot of dedication and responsibilty to live with these beauties. It is hard to describe what it is like to hug a cougar, but all I can say is it is such a wonder feeling and experience. My wife and I share a wonderful bond with our domestic cats as well. But to have a bobcat and cougar let you into their world, to be one with them, to have that connection with the wild, is truly wonderful. I have said many times, that I wish I could let everyone here, experience the love of these great cats. I hope that through these posts on this forum, that I have brought a little part of their world into your lives. I also hope that I have shown, that exotic animal owners are responsible, who give everything they can, for the care and welfare of the cats that share their lives. We are not the irresponsible cruel people that the AR (Animal Rights) people and media say we are. Yes, there are a few bad owners out there and they are the ones who make all of us look bad. But education is the key, not more ban laws and restrictions on our rights to live with these great cats. I work hard to educate people before they even think of bringing an exotic cat into thie lives. I am so happy that everyone enjoys these pictures. There will be more to follow. I have more cheetah pictures, as well as more of Amber, Boris, Carmelo and Nakoma. Oh and Aurora won't let me forget to post pictures of her and the rest of our domestic beauties as well
Cats, they truly are a gift from God

I just read the entire thread and, like so many other people just couldn't keep silent! Your family is beautiful. I have my reservations about the owning of large cats, mostly due to the fact that they require so much devotion from their humans and there are so few people with the time, resources and heart to truly give these beautiful animals the quality life they deserve. However, the love your animals have for you and the love you have for your animals simply radiates from both the pictures and the words you post, and I can't help but feel that they were *meant* to be a part of your life (and the other way around of course). Bravo to you! I wish all pet owners showed the same kind of love, devotion and respect towards the animals in their lives. There is simply a shortage of responsible kind-hearted people in this world and, if your adopted family is any indication, you are one of those people.

Your kids are lucky to have you.

They are so beautiful!

Ok, I have more pictures from the convention. Hope you enjoy. I will have more of our babies soon

Some of these pictures are not the best, they were taken through glass, or it was very dark.
This is a Fishing Cat.

These are very cute. They are Sand cats and are about the same size, maybe smaller, than our domestic cats. There are 3 snuggled together here

This is a beautiful Snow Leopard.

This is an Ocelot.

This picture isn't very good, but it was the best I could get, because it was dark in this room. This was in the behind the scenes feeding room.
This is a Pallas Cat.

Ocelot playing with fish in a pool.

This is a White Lion, but he looked more tan than white. There are 2 here.

More Cheetah pictures

Cheetah running so fast, she is just a blur in this picture.

The 2 boys running together. They just got started here, so they were not as fast yet, when I got this picture.

Beautiful Cheetah.

Hey, this is my traffic cone and you CAN"T have it back

LOVED all the recent pics John! I saw a cheetah at the zoo this year. Beautiful cat!!!! I had a hard time leaving that area. I kept waiting for it to stroll right by me, and every time it did, I was like WOW!

Not a stupid question at all. Amber, Boris, Nakoma and Carmelo, the 3 bobcats and the cougar, are my pets. However, the Cheetahs, Lions, Leopard, Sand cats, Pallas cats, Fishing cats and Ocelots are not. I belong to an organization called the FCF, Feline Conservation Federation. We had our yearly convention this year at the Cincinnati zoo. They have a Cheetah breeding and conservation facility there, plus many other wild cats.

I'm going to have to read up on exotic cats - I haven't heard of the sand cat. Are they from Asia or Africa? (Yep, I can just make out 6 ears!
)

These were African Sand cats, but I do believe a sub species of these adorable little felines are found in central Asia and Pakistan as well.
Stunning pictures, but you can't beat that Carmelo's beautiful face, he a doll baby
Awww, our big boy says thank you

Wow - I've just read this thread from beginning to end! I'll admit that at first I wasn't sure about the idea of keeping exotic cats as pets but I'm totally won over now - you certainly have done your research and are very responsible and caring owners. I wish all pet owners took pet ownership so responsibly. I love them all but have to admit to developing a soft spot for Nakoma - he's just gorgeous.

Thank you for the kind words and the change of heart on exotic cat ownership. I will admit, it is hard work and not for everyone. Nakoma sends his love
