Today I was coming home from the vet's office with my cat, Muffin. A cat ran out of someone's yard and ran into the road. I hit him, but he kept right on running. He was on all fours when I saw him run into the woods. I turned the car around and went back. I talked to two people and nobody knew for certain whose cat it was. One man said a lady there feeds about 20 stray cats, but nobody was home. I never saw the cat again, and I didn't know anything else to do, so I just came home. I wish it hadn't happened. I need a hug.

It could happen to anyone. At least you cared enough to stop and check on the cat. That's more than most people would do.

O I feel soo bad for you
I cry when I hit birds. I hope you just nicked him and he's ok. Don't feel bad, you could'nt have avoided it.

That's just devastating for a cat lover. Try not to beat yourself up about it. It was an accident, and you did what you could.

At least you turned around to make sure that he/she was okay!

Many years ago I hit a dog. I was moving pretty fast at the time, and although the dog ran off, I was certain it was severely injured. I stopped at the nearest house, and knocked on the door. I told the person who answered that I had hit a dog. They said he was fine. I repeated...the dog ran into the road and I hit him. Then the dog came up, and I saw that he was fine.

I still think his owners were crazy...why was he allowed to run if he got in the road. And they showed no concern, so I have a feeling it wasn't the first time he was hit. But...he was really fine.

I hope your kitty was fine, too. The fact that he ran off on a 4 legs is a good sign. Maybe later you can check to fine the cat colony caretaker, and ask her if he showed back up for her, and if he seemed ok. Then you could see if she is TNR-ing or just feeding. It might be a chance for you to offer some advice or help! And ease your mind in knowing the kitty is ok.

Oh, and by the way, ((((hug))))
