The update on the wedding dress fiasco. Its now week 17. I never got a reply last week, so i fired off another email Monday morning. well finally today i get a reply. My dress has just now been shipped from the designer. And not overnight mind you. she wont have it til early next week as per her email.than it will be sent to me..and not overnight mind you. Priority mail. and next tuesday will put as at week 18, 6 weeks passed the "up to 12 weeks" line in the store policy. while i understand things happen..6weeks..is pretty..well..not acceptable. IMO.

and the email today..well this is the line..that most caught my attention..and made me just shake my head

"We try to make this stressfree and I
feel that we have definitely let you down.
Hopefully when you receive the gown the beauty of it will make it worth the
wait."

Now i have no doubt the gown will be beautiful..and I will love it. And you know at 1-3 weeks late, and good communication i may have been ok..and not freaked out. but next tuesday, will be 6 weeks late. am I wrong in freakign out and thinking no matter how beautiful the gown is it wont make up for it? steve thinks a partial refund is in order..I dont even dare ask for anything..til the dress is in my darn hands.

no you're not wrong - they've given you false advertising - if I were you I'd have been totally losing it by now and they'd have lost a customer LONG before this week!! Stress-free my foot! You ought to be screaming blue murder for the emotional distress they've caused you
get yourself a discount, I would!

Movin' on up!
Good grief! Back in my dressmaking days, I could have a custom-made wedding dress ready to wear, in a week and I was just ONE person, without the aid of a factory full of people.

My mother used to do dressmaking as a small business too, I don't think she ever had one complaint about the time she had to use to make gowns. I was actually thinking about taking it up myself, just as a hobby

According to my husband... the zoo
no you are not wrong!

6 weeks late is not acceptable in everyonesopinion

I also agree about the partial refund (and waiting until you have the dress! good idea). They definitely didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

lol i'm such a brat I would say I didn't want it anymore and then freak out later because I didn't have a dress.

Have them throw in a free veil and a free slip.

I would file with the BBB about the service, and also tell the lady that 6 weeks late is not an exceptable length of time, especially in combination with the poor response, and that you demand a discount on the gown. You did it all by email, so you have all the communication neccesary to prove that they were neglectful of their client, read: you

This is a tough one. You want your wedding day to be lovely and memorable. And if you go through all this grief over the dress, it won't be a happy memory. The dress is late, but you will have it, and if it is really beautiful, you should enjoy that aspect of it.

I do understand how mad you are, and I would be too. You did need to get on her case, because you needed to have it shipped. But you can't afford to get all caught up in the unjustice of it all. You have more work to do getting the wedding planned, and get on with your life.

I worked in a restaurant that catered wedding receptions. One wedding, everything was lovely, except that the ice cream sundaes didn't have a maraschino cherry on top. And the bride freaked out, and refused to pay. All we thought was, wow, she really ruined that wedding day, didn't she.

I guess I am saying, don't be a bridezilla. Expect fair treatment, but don't get into a fight over something that can't be fixed. She can't send it in the time she promised, that boat has sailed.

HOWEVER, she should absolutely be giving you something free, or a partial refund, because she didn't live up to her part of the purchase contract.

oh yes*approving nod* you absolutely have the right to get some sort of refund or some goodies in addition...that's the least ! If they say 12 weeks and need 50% more time...nope, that's just not right!!!!*shakehead*

Just an update this morning. She did email in reply to mine. Which I did not demand anything, but kinda..nudged that It would be nice to get "something" for my trouble. I already have a veil and such covered. so i didnt need any of that. She offered me a 50% refund, and I took it. she will also be overnighting the gown to me once she gets it. She also said she is no longer doing buisness with that designer.

Man you would think I was ordering from vera Wang..UGH. I am glad she offered to make it right, and I didnt have to get mean about it. I was being nice..in my first email and was gonna be not so nice if i didnt get a prompt relpy. But i did. and although I am not happy, she IS trying now to make me happy and do what she can. So thats a plus in my book.

Although...this late still isnt..a cool thing.good thing i didnt order it..13 weeks before my wedding.my cousins wife did.

That's excellent! I hope the dress is beautiful, we'll all want to see photos of the wedding.

I am very pleased for you that you managed to resolve this with kind persistence. I'm touchy today, I had a customer call and threaten police and legal action about a business deal, even though he doesn't have a leg to stand on. I am not motivated to give him any concession at all, since he's being so confrontational about it all. If he had been professional, and reasonable, and just discussed the problem, I would have helped. I even asked him, what would make you happy? And he had no answer.
