hello... we have a new kitten... we brought home a boy and a girl and the boy is older than our baby girl. i'm saying that he's about 5-6 months... but that's sort of a guess. my sister says that's how old she thinks he is... and i think that's about right...

anyhow i was wondering what i should do about neutering?
i am constantly reading websites that say to neuter your cat before 6 months of age... what if he's older than 6 months b/c i'm not sure... what then? is it more complicated? or is that just b/c they can start breeding at 6 months?
our girl is 2-3 months but i CANNOT get ahold of any vet around here... i live in a major city... overland park/kansas city, kansas... and it's ridiculous but EVERY SINGLE vet i call to make an appt. for spay/neuter they always go to an answering machine and then nobody calls me back... i've called several vets... and it's like... what the heck? whoa! i just went on a rant (sorry!)

lol thanks for your feedback!

Stephanie, I would keep after the vets. Show up at their office and make a personal appointment if you have to. Many vets are cognizant today of the benefits of early spay and neuter, but you just have to ask. Your tom is going to be feeling the urge quite soon, if he hasn't already and when he does, he will try and mate with the female. He may even injure her. It is to your advantage to get him neutered and her spayed.

Studies are showing that kittens neutered prior to 6 months are much more loving and less involved in behavior issues as they grow up.
