Some people are just sooo sleazy!

I just got my W2 from my formewr employer, a total $%&$, who was supposed to be matching my taxes. She did not do it, so I have credited only half the amount I am supposed to have on taxes, Social Security, etc. I spoke to the IRS, and she has committed fraud, but it will take up to 3 years for it to catch up to her. They said I have to talk to her and try to get her to issue a corrected W2. I can't stand this lying, cheating witch, and I hate the thought of having to talk to her.
My birthday was in December, and apparently someone just got around to realizing they forgot to do the usual thing at work for me. I never said a word since I had been there only a short time, and I probably would not have done it anyway. They took up money and gave it to a girl that I thought was my friend. She kept the money and told me this big story about how the girls only took up $25 and she thought that was so wrong, so she doubled it and got me something nice. Turns out it was a thing she got her boyfriend's brother for Christmas, and he left before she could give it to him. I guess she forgot she told me about it. I'd certainly let her know you have talked to the IRS and that they are the ones that told you she needs to give you a corrected form. Tell her you need it within a month or less. Put some pressure on her.

That may make her sit up and take notice more quickly.

As for the gift, I would tell my "friend" in a false innocent way that she should probably still give it to her boyfriend's brother since you don't smoke! She'll realize then that she did tell you and that you caught her out in a lie without you actually calling her a liar.

I agree with Yosemite. Put some pressure on her after all the IRS does know. I can't believe that they know and yet won't do anything for 3 years!
