In class the other night, the instructor gave us a fun quiz. It consisted of 23 phrases reworded so you really have to think about what the phrase is. Here is the first example:

"Scintillate, scintillate asteroid misific."

The answer? "Twinkle, twinkle little star"....

Ok- now here is one for you to solve to get your brain juices flowing this morning.......

"Members of an avian species of identical plumage congregate."

and one more:

"Eschew the implement of correction and vitiate the scion."

Anyway, me being an English fanatic I loved this quiz and got 4 wrong. We weren't allowed to use a dictionary, just our brains. But it was fun so I thought I would share. Is anyone up to it?

Hissy...
Followed the rules, and did not use a dictionary...

1. Birds of a feather flock together

2. Spare the staff and spoil the child.

How'd I do?

A plethora of individuals with expertise in culinary techniques vitiated the potable concoction produced by steeping certain comestibles.

Aren't you glad we all don't talk like this? LOL

Psst, Mel, "he who laughs last laughs best"

I think the 3rd is a version of "you've got to spend money to make money" only it's said in the reverse, like "people who don't spend money, don't make money"

I got the meaning of that one translated, but I can't make it into a saying that is right.

That's a hard one!
