The recent addition of Lucy, our 2 year old Tuxedo cat, got me wondering if there were any specific quarks that Tuxedo cats have.

I know that male orange Tabbies are considered very friendly and are always looked for.

Any thoughts?

Here's a pic of Lucy:

I've always thought that they are pretty friendly kitties. But I'm biased.. I've got one true tuxie who is my favorite kitty
, and a black/white bi-color. I've also known a few black/white kitties that were pretty cool. All of said kitties were male.

Both my tuxies, though very different, have very distinct personalities.
Oliver is very laid-back, super friendly, super affectionate with a bit of a mischevious streak and a need to please his "people". He loves water from the faucet!
Emma is more solitary, very sassy, but loves affection--when she wants it! She's VERY much a girly girl and even loves sitting with me in the morning when I put on my makeup.
I've had many people tell me Oliver is a dog in a cat suit!

Well, Joshua is a very strange cat. He loves attention and affection but usually from a distance. He'll show signs of affection all the time but wont snuggle and doesn't like to be picked up.
He's what I would describe as a very needy aloof cat

This sounds exactly like my Ivo. She demands affection, but only on her terms. She tolerates being picked up for a very short time and is not a lap cat, but likes to lay across my feet.

My Sophies a love bug and a lap cat with me, and although her and Rosie get along brilliantly with each other such as snuggling, grooming and playing she can torment Rosie to pieces

My LUcky is a tux...and she's is the princess of the house. She loves her cuddles, and wants to be in my arms whenever i'm on the couch (or she thinks i should be on the couch). She's a chatterbox too...and occasionally a trouble maker! Wouldn't trade her for the world!

Oliver is our gray & white Tuxedo. He is very socialable. When company comes, he greets tham at the door and, if allowed, scratches their shoes to say hello.
He loves to show off for company. He will lie down in the middle of the crowd and roll over on his back and say "bdddddttt."

He is also a helpful kitty. Tripod has trouble covering up after himself in the litterbox. Oliver will jump in after him and cover up his mess.

Well, one of Gracie's nicknames is Weird Girl, so what does that tell you?

She's the most vocal, demanding (downright bossy) cat I've ever had. She's also the most affectionate, at least with me. She's not a bit shy around strangers, but is extremely particular about letting anyone else touch her.
She's absolutely obssessed with bugs, plants of all kinds and the bathroom sink. She'd rather have lettuce as a treat than turkey or tuna and also loves other fruits and veggies including peaches, bananas, blueberries, celery and tomatoes. At night, she must sleep on the pillow next to my head and no one else dares take that spot. When I'm home, she needs to know where I am
at all times and will meow pitifully if she can't find me.

Gracie is my high-maintenance kitty and I wouldn't have it any other way!

How cute!

Our four Tuxes each have their own distinct personalities, but they are all very affectionate...all it takes is a loving look and they'll start purring

Mr. Underfoot (in sig photo - Tux boy, 11) is my "puppycat" because he follows me around like a puppy. He's a total love bug and lap cat, very affectionate, always wanting to be held and carried around. He's also an expert at finding food - we have to be very careful to keep all food items sealed up, because he can turn doorknobs and open doors and cabinets, and will quickly tear into anything left where he can get to it.

Oreo (DH's Tux boy, 11) - my husband used to think was a standoffish cat (he'd always thought cats were naturally standoffish, and didn't realize they could be so affectionate). After he met my cats and saw how loving cats can be, he started giving Oreo more affection. Oreo just blossomed with the attention and is now very affectionate too. He's not so big on being held, though he likes it more as he gets older. He's become a lap cat.

Felixia (Tux girl, 18) is very sweet and affectionate too, and loves to be held and to ride around on my shoulder. She can turn grumpy in a heartbeat if one of the other cats gets too close, though (I think she'd rather be an only cat). She's a lap cat too - she & Mr. Underfoot get in little arguments over who gets to sit on my lap while I'm on the computer. One will get to my lap first, then the other will jump up and lay on top of the first cat.

Sylvestra (Tux girl, 11) is a total mushpot just like her brother Mr. Underfoot. She'll get so happy when we pet her that she'll flop over in ecstacy, purring like crazy, and grab my hand if I stop petting her. She'll also just walk up and start petting herself on my hand. She likes to be carried around too, but for some reason she's not a lap cat - she'd rather just sit beside me (maybe because Mr. & Felixia are usually fighting over the lap?). She's very talkative - sometimes I think she's a Siamese dressed in a tuxedo.

my tuxedo Mr Pickles is also a very aloof cat. Once in a blue moon only will he get in my lap. other than that he's not much on being pet. he can be very playful with the kitten and loves to play fetch. he's very very shy around strangers, hiding under the bed for hours if people are around, but he is my baby and no amount of slipping through my fingers when i try to pet him will change that!

Rocky, my true tuxie boy is awesome. He is almost 2. He is very friendly and the most "dog like kitty". He licks, plays fetch, greats you at the door and demands attention by grabbing your legs and meowing pitifully. He likes to sit next to you, or on your legs at night.
Zakk (age 2 1/2) is a more of a bicolor, but he is very smart, athletic, affectionate on his own terms. He also loves his food. Both kitties are not at all afraid of strangers, and Zakk also greats you at the door. Both are also into bug hunting, but Zakk is better at it.

This is Mittens

She was the most amazing, adorable cat you could ever meet. Even our vet said she was an unusually lovely cat!

She was very affectionate and always knew when I needed a cuddle. E.g. when I lost my dad, it took me a while to come to terms with my loss and she would let me hold her and cry into her fur. She also slept with us at night

When we lost her to cancer last year, I wanted to get another tuxedo but my husband wouldn't let me because he said it would be like we were trying to replace her so we got a black and a black smoke instead
