Been lurking at this site for a few weeks while I made the decision to get a cat. I had two cats when I was a kid (both lived for about 12 years, I'm now 30), and through College and moving out I never got a new one. So I finally decided to get one.
Went to the Shelter on Friday and picked up a one year old girl. Her name is Madison. She is VERY affectionate. She loves rubbing up against you. Within 10 minutes of her being home, she already was on my lap and was even rubbing my face. She likes to be pet virtually everywhere on her. She is also very quiet, and never really bites or even tries to swat you. She tells you she doesn't like something by moving away.
Right now she is very skittish about noises, and is constantly going under my bed. But when she comes out, she starts purring like crazy.
