We picked up Lucy (age 2) in November as a companion for our resident cat, Hank (age 14). We got Lucy because we had to put our other cat to sleep and Hank seemed sort of lonely.

Anyhoo, we did the usual room exchange and blanket swap, I got the Feliway defuser and jumped through all the hoops. Hank really hated Lucy but will now tolerate her while he eats but that's about it. See photo link (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../hanklucy.jpg). We've made GREAT progress but Hank still refuses to come out of our bedroom except to use the litter box.

Any clues on what I should do to get Hank out of the bedroom and back in the rest of the house? Should I just wait him out and hope that 'time' will prevail? Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hank will get over his insecurity in time. Cats differ when it comes to adjustments. My Joji for example, took almost a year before she tolerated the others. Even now, she still is wary when she sees them. On the other hand, QT and Skinny kind of accept the presence of a newbie although I wouldn't say they give it a warm welcome.

Oh, by the way, can't link to the picture. Photobucket says it can't be found.

Aww, what darlings!

You ARE making progress.
I remember how Joji would refuse to eat in the same room with the others.
