Ok quick question then i'll leave u guys alone lol
Ok im getting a bengal boy in about 2-3 wks hopefully he'll be around 12 wks. Im now thinking about getting him a play buddy since i heard bengals are active. I want to get another kitten so they can be around each other at a young age. My question is i was looking to adopt at a shelter(non bengal kitty) or should i get another bengal kitty? If i get another bengal kitty it wont be for awhile bc of the price.

Do bengals do good with mix breeds or are they too active? Since im getting a boy should i get another boy or girl?

Thanks again, i really appreciate all the advice you guys give!

I don't think the breed matters, just get one that is close to the same age.

As for sex, as long as they are both spayed or neutered I don't think it really matters either. All cats are different. There is no saying who will get along and who won't. So as long as you go young, and they can grow up together, they should be fine.

I agree.
Although, the kitty of another breed may not want to play with the bengal when he gets older. Bengals never really stop being perpetual kittens, even as an adult.

I am not a breeder, but a owner. This is my experience with a Bengal (he was 1 yr old in September)

My Bengal, Zeke, torments my sweet, quiet, Ocicat and sometimes the Egyptian Mau.

Luckily we now have a Chausie who is also high energy.
They tear through the house at full speed most of the day. Then they fall into a curled up ball of cat for a couple hours and then they are at it again.

I would say....find a way to get two Bengals. They are just way too active for most cats. Call around to breeders and ask if they have a "not so perfect" kitten or young adult for sale. Heck Dave would give you mine if I wasn't here to protect my "bad" boy. He drives Dave crazy. Zeke talks to himself all hours of the night. Imagine a female in heat sound all night long....that's my Zeke! I just love
the heck out of him. He is so sweet and naughty at the same time.

I'm not a breeder, but I'd say go to the shelter and adopt a kitten. My cats both tear through the house at full-speed and act like kittens and they are almost 2 and almost 5. They are both shelter alumni!

In my situation, I've had Simba since he was a kitten. He is the typical high energy, naughty but nice Bengal. Sometimes I think he might have the naughty part to the extreme. My 8 year old Siamese cat Shane is not a big fan of Simba's antics, especially when Shane is the brunt of Simba's energy, however my little female Siamese SunLee, just loves Simba and is usually a perfect playing partner for Simba, until Simba get too rough.

I just got a female Bengal, Angel. She is the same age as Simba, only two months older. She is quiet, non destructive, and not that active, either. She does not like Simba at all.

I would think if they are brothers, they should get along just fine, especially after they have both been neutered. I just have to say, that just because it's another Bengal, does not automatically mean that they will get along and like each other. Angel (female Bengal) does NOT like Simba's (Male Bengel) rough housing. She wants NOTHING to do with Simba. Both are Bengal's and both are 100% different in every way. She is a gentle sweet well behaved cat, where as Simba, although a sweetheart, has boundless energy, is rough, is destructive to some degree, and loves to pick on the other cats, Angel being one of them. He doesn't want to fight, he wants to play, but his playing is rough, and Angel doesn't want anything to do with it. Like I said, my little Siamese SunLee, is more playful and loves to play with Simba. Just don't expect that because you have 2 Bengal's that they will necessarily automatically get along.

OK thanks for all the replies!!! I have some thinking to do and i'll also ask the breeder how these two act around each other. I might just end up going to the local shelter and "interviewing" potential residents lol

That's funny, that's how one of my female bengals is...and her nick name is ANGEL too!
She's quiet, calm and keeps to herself. She gets upset at any other cat that messes with her. She is very serious about having and taking care of her babies. It seems that's all she like to do.
Im going to spay and place her soon. I think she'd make a great cat for anyone who wants a bengal that is not

Yes, Angel is NOTHING like Simba. I can leave a bag of catfood in her room, and she won't bother it. Simba would have it detroyed in a matter of a half and hour or so. Angel is the perfect, little cat, as far as being loving and well behaved, however she is SO intimidated by Simba it isn't funny. Because of her reaction to Simba I've still had to keep her seperated. I'm going to see if Feliway will calm him down a bit, as well as relax her a bit. I don't expect Angel to ever become close buddies with Simba, but I want her to feel comfortable that she can be around him. Simba is the kind of cat, that when he knows he's upsetting another cat, he just keeps going after them. It's play for him, he's not doing it to fight, but Angel simply does NOT want to rough house, and that's the way Simba plays.
