I might need to change the way I am handling it

I think it's time to change the way I am handling things between Dori and Brody (the dog). When we first got Brody he was constantly trying to run after her. He didn't do it in a violent way, he just wanted to play. Dori never seems to want much to do with him so I always call him off her.

What I learned last night was that Dori is not the sweet little innocent kitty being chased by the mean dog that I thought she was! Oh no, she is the sneaky little girl trying to get the doggy into trouble

I heard the usual ringing of Dori's collar and Brody running on the wood floor and went to go call Brody off Dori... As I turned the corner though it was Dori I saw chasing Brody Then a little bit later that night, Brody was laying down on his pillow and Dori casually walked by him getting as close to his pillow as possible as though she was trying to make him chase her. This morning I heard Brody whining a bit and caught Dori sitting right in front of his crate (he was closed inside) staring right at him.

I think it might be time to back off of Brody and let them begin to work these things out themselves? My main concern was making sure that Dori's routine was not interrupted by Brody and that she didn't think I was replacing her. It's been almost 2 months now, do you think enough time has passed to just let them work it out?

Yes. Let them decide who is the alpha animal! just make sure neither gets injured in the process(which i am sure you will do anyways)

Sounds like they are ready. I'd keep an eye on them for the first little while though.
