I was surfing around looking at dog behavior stuff, and ran across this great article:

It's a long article, but it's an eye-opener - well worth reading if you have a dog. Now I think I understand my own girl a little better - why she is happy and playful with most dogs, yet dislikes some others (no biting, just turns away, then bared teeth and a 'back off!' growl if that's ignored). Interesting.
