Hey there -

One of my cats has decided that he likes chewing on lettuce and grape stems. I can't imagine that this would be bad for him, but I'd appreciate any feedback. He's also a big fan of yogurt. Any flavour, any brand, any kind - I can barely get the container away from him.

My kitty loves to eat anything green; I started growing cat grass for him and he loves it. You can also purchase cat grass already grown in most pet stores. Grass is ok for them to eat and I believe aids in their digestion, just keep him away from plants as many of them are toxic to cats. There are some web sites that list which plants are bad for cats. Just google something along the lines of "poison plants and feline" and it should give you some sites to explore

I wouldn't give the grape stems. The Humane Society had an article recently about some dogs dying from eating grapes. They did not know what caused it (ie. the grapes, or something sprayed on the grapes) and since they didn't know what caused it, it might be better off to avoid the stems as well.

Lots of kitties like yogurt. My vet sometimes recommends giving a little to kitty with bowel problems as it promotes good bacteria in the intestines. I would be careful about giving flavored yogurts though, because the high sugar content can cause diarrhea.

Maybe that was it. Sash loves yougurt, mostly vanilla. But he does get diarrhea, so we don't do yogurt anymore. We switched to MaltoMeal.

I'd stay away from the grape stems, too, and also stick with plain yogurt and only a very little bit each day as a treat.
