Hello
My girl, Chichi, has recently started to mat up around her rear area, aroung the top of her legs by the tail. I comb her as often as she permits, but she is getting up there in age and grooming herself is'nt soo easy anymore. I have tried to work them out myself with a comb & my fingers, but she is a meanie and my hands cannot take anymore scratches/bites. I was reading another members post regarding thier kitty, and it was recommended that they take the kitty to the groomer and shave the area. Chichi is VERY EVIL and I am quite sure they will not be able to access this sensitive area while she is fully awake. Should I try it anyway and hope for the best, or should I opt for a vet apointment so they can gas her to calm her down (this is necessary when she gets her nails trimmed) Thank you in advance for any advice. I am trying to take care of them before they get worse. They are very small now, but you can feel them when you pet her. Thank you

I have a longer haired cat and when she had diarrehea problems I would bring her into the bathroom with me and shut the door. Then I would stick her in an empty bathtub and cut the matted fur off with scisscors. It helps to have another person hold the cat but if you can't find anyone else then try to keep the cat standing up so it's easier to cut the fur.
