I have to leave my new kitten's food upstairs because she is too little to walk downstairs to get to it. I have another cat and her food is downstairs and although I feed her twice a day she keeps eating all the kitten's food that is in my room.

What can I do to prevent her from eating it? She doesn't normally finish all food that I give her, so I don't think that she is being deprived. The two are close enough in age so that they both eat the same thing...so it's not as if the kitten's food is better, it's just closer. Thanks so much!

Don't leave it out at all, stay with the kitten until she finishes eating, then put the dish away. If she doesn't eat it all, give it to her again in a while (20 mins), but unless it's dry food, it'll go bad fast anyhow if left out.

Or use this handy tool www.wildwhiskers.com

I use this netting quite often and it works out well. After the kittens eat, they just go to the other side of the enclosure and go to sleep until I let them out. You can also put a small litter pan inside there as well.
