Hi, Yvonne picked up a supply of different kinds of cat treats on sale. Our piggy Rusty will eat any kind of treat, Angel is a little more fussy, Panther is real fussy and Tuffy sniffs at them and tries to burry them by scratching with his front foot like he is digging in dirt. He won't eat them even in the cat food dish but he will eat tuna fish or other soft foods.

Does he do this to try and hide the treats for later? Panther will also do the same thing with the treats he don't like. Angel has always scratched around the food dish when she was done eating like to hide it. Angel will go as far as cover the food dish with old drier sheets she finds in the back room. We have to feed the cats on top of the clothes drier or the dog eats all there food. Tuffy must have learned it from Angel because he does the same thing the last week or so.

Some cats must have allot of living in the wild still in there genes. The other day I saw a real neat show on TV about house cats, it said we never really domesticated cats but they just learned to put up with living with people. I think there is probably allot of truth in that lol.

They are generally not hungry when they do that and they are burying the food for later on. You can help to appease their wild urge by buying a large bandanna, and putting the treats on the bandanna. The cat scratches around the food, the bandanna goes over the food and the cat will walk away after that.
