FINALLY, an animal-rescue show that gives lots of attention to CATS!
And the Arizona Humane Society has EAMTs that are just incredibly compassionate to both the animals & the owners. Plus the idea of emergency animal medical techs on scene is such a GREAT idea!!
Anyone else out there enjoying this wonderful show?
Last night they showed dog hoarders (2 brothers - so much for my misconception that hoarders are women) that had 49 inbred dogs! But instead of mocking the owners & their deplorable living conditions, the rescue team approached the situation so sympathetically while rescuing the dogs, I was really touched. The happy ending is that all the dogs were surrendered, only 4 were returned to the owners after they totally cleaned their house, prepared better living conditions and proved that they had educated themselves on proper dog ownership.
There were 3 other segments on cat rescues! What a refreshing relief - the other day I was laid up in bed & watched Animal Cops Detroit & Houston & NYC, and they featured basically dogs & livestock - guess cats just don't need much help in those cities (yeah, right :eek:nfire).
Anyway, I am going to e-mail Animal Planet & the AZ Humane Society to let them know how much I appreciate the cat rescues! BTW, sorry for the long post, but I just love cat stories

Did you see the episode where they went into the home with the elderly couple on their son and took 15 cats and 2 older pugs. Later in the segment, they gave an update on the Pugs (one they PTS because it was blind and very sick and one was adopted by the rescuer) however there was NO MENTION about the fate of the cats. To me, it would have been kinder to say "unfortunately all the cats had to be PTS" instead of simply ignoring their fate.

I noticed that too! I think Phoenix is definitely my new favorite. I liked NYC best before, but I think they did a reat job with Phoenix. It's on in a half hour!

I watched that episode last night. I was so glad they were able to return that one older dog. You are right, but I never noticed that the other shows never have many cat stories.

Actually, I have to admit the first time I watched that program about two years ago, I burst into tears at the way the animials looked.

I did watch the first Phoenix episode and it went much better.

!!!! its on right now! This poor kitty has fallen into a cactus and is so covered in spines you can't tell she's a cat. I hope they can fix her, its so sad.. and she's obviously in pain.

OMG, I watched that episode today too! That poor kitty, it was unbelievable how many pickers she was covered in! She was expected to make a full recovery.

I also saw the brothers with the 49 large dogs in their house & the elderly couple with the pugs... and the filthy house with all of the Brussel Griffons... all so sad!!!

I love this show, but I was soooo sad to see the kitty. I nearly cried, thinking what it would be like to see any of my pets in so much pain

I'm glad that the 49 dog situation ended well though. It was so touching to see those men work to fix up their house, and get a few of the dogs back.

I'm watching the late night re-run right now. OMG, when I saw that cat I actually had to cover my eyes! That was, by far, the most distressing (live animal) sight I've ever seen...and I watch all of the animal precinct shows!

We have a lot of cactus here and one of my cats fell into a particularly vicious one. She had thorns in her face and body. Some were very deep. Luckily she was not too bad and I managed to deal with it myself and a pair of tweezers, there were no side effects and a vets visit was avoided.

She kept well away from the cactus after that.

I havn't seen the episode yet, we only get one Animal Planet here at the moment. Seeing how Luna was after jsut a few thorns I would hate to see a cat with a lot it must have been in so much pain.
