I've never posted here before, but i have a dilemma. My cat is 13 years old and he seems to be normal, eating very well, but is just a little tired. I found a small lump on the left side of his neck and his right eye is irritated with a little discharge (i rinse it with some solution)/ I took him to my vet at VCA and after $500 they still dont know what is wrong with him! They ruled out cancer, but they said his splene felt a little large. They also said he has alot of tartar build-up on his back teeth. I just don't know what to do! Can anyone please give me some suggestions????

Thank you,
RUBINA

Did the vet say anthing else regarding his teeth? tarter buildup can lead to gingivitis (gum infection) and other health problems. Does your cat's breath smell? Also, can you get a second opinion from another vet?

What did they say about the lump? Did they try to drain it? The discharge in the eye could be a flare up of an old herpes infection, which lots of kitties get. Did they run blood tests? What were the results?

The lump could be an abcessed tooth that has infection brewing down the neck, and the eye discharge could be another infection in the root of the teeth in the top jaw. I would consider getting his teeth cleaned...
