Hello Fur-friends
Danny here.
I was wondering: how do you train your humans??

My Meowmy is pretty easy to train, and these are some ways I do it:
"Death Mew" I start with a loud meow and trail away to a little airy gasp.
this works great to get food!! Meowmy thinks I'm starvin'
to death.

"Drama Mew" I meow as loud as I can for as long as I can. This makes
Meowmy come to see what is wrong, and then I run so we
play chase!

"Super-Stretch" This is great for a tummy-rub. Meowmy drops what ever
she is doing and runs to pet me.
I lie down and
streeeetcchh as far as I can, like a backwards C
Anyway any other tips out there??
Your Purr-pal
Danny

Hello Danny!!

I also find that my "going to the vet" meow is very useful to get meowmy to come running to see what's wrong..then we can play!

I've discovered that coming up on meowmy's chest first thing in the morning and kneading and meowing excessively is a sure way to get her up and on her way to the kitchen to get me some food. The key is to be persistent (and avoid her hands if she tries to push you away!).

Hi Danny! This is a GREAT thread you have started. Well, some techniques I have found to work pretty well to train Meowmy are these:

- I look into her eyes, then meow the sweetest most pathetic meow I can and she comes running over to see me and pet me. It makes me sooo happy, I purr! Good Meowmy.

- When I want food, I scratch at the cabinet and miaow (yes, there is a difference between meow, miaow, and mew) very loudly. I lay around the cabinet and repeat the scratching and miaowing every 2 minutes or so till she feeds me. I reward her by acting cute and purring while rubbing against her.

- When I want to play, I attack Meowmy. She throws me one of my many toys, and when I'm not satisfied at that she digs out one of the fancy feathery toys with bells on a string, and then I really have fun!

She's a good Meowmy. She's very cooperative with the training!

Lovey,

~Sweetie

Hi kitty friends. I've found if I stand up on meowmy's leg and pull down on her trousers (with my claws out a bit), she will pay attention to me. Then once I get her attention I sit like a little gentlecat while she gets the treats out of the cupboard for me and Mika.
Mika has no voice except for a little funny huffing noise and meowmy thinks it's so cute she falls for it every time and will give Mika anything she wants and because she doesn't want me to feel left out, I get treats too!

I have found the best way to get attention is to find someplace that has something that means a lot to your human and start to play with it or knock it off.

Of course, it also is a good way to be threatened with being turned into a white fur purse with a 14 inch strap...

I've had my meowmy for a veerrrry long time.
In fact I've had her so long I don't have to train her at all anymore.
She does it all on her own now, and I have everything just the way I want it without my having to lift a paw. It's sooooooo nice!!!!!!!

Scooter here, meow to all you TCS kitties. My meowmy wears these funny pantrs with a string on them. If I grab the string, I can make her pants fall down. She will scold me, but then I show her my cutest pose and she pets me as much as I want. Before Fred went away to something called the Bridge, he taught me if I jump on her belly in the morning, she will wake up and go to the funny litter box, the she feeds us. Sometimes she will go back to bed after, and forget that she fed us, and feeds us again!

My meowmy has some of those pants to. She always puts them on after she has been gone all day (i wonder where she goes anyway). Then she cooks in the kitchen and moves around a lot, so i try to climb her legs and get the string. After i do this a while she will throw my ribbon ball or get me treat!
Yummy!

Hi There! I'm Bob, and I train my meowmy by acting like I hear a mouse in the kitchen. Meowmy comes running to see what's going on, and then she gets out Da Bird or Cat Dancer to distract me. Hee, hee, hee mission accomplished! I also meow in front of the bathroom door like I'm in pain when meowmy is in there. She lets me right in and I can try to steal Da Bird. My brotha Freckles just starts talking and he gets lotsa attention.

Buddy here. If I sit on Mom's newspaper, she moves me onto her lap and scratches my ears.

I also sit in the kitchen and let out a pathetic little squeak. This makes Mom check the food bowl. If she doesn't put food in it, right away I fall over onto my side, as if I were too weak to stand up. This at least gets me a belly rub (sometimes, I'm lying about the bowl being empty).

Our Mum goes away all day, too. She tells us she's going to catch mousies, but she never brings any home.
I think she means she's going to do something important, but I don't know what could be more important than being home to give us attention and scritches and stuff.

I sit behind Mum in the morning when she's been playing in the water in the room that has the litter box, and I talk loudly to her. Then she comes and sits on the bed and gives me lots of loves and scritches, and then I let her put some clothes on and she gets us some breakfast.

At night, I tell her when it's bedtime and she gives me a ride upstairs, and then I hold the bed down while she takes those clothes off again and does a bunch of other stuff. Sometimes she takes too long, and I have to go check some things, but sooner or later she remembers to get between the sheets, so I can come lie down on her legs. Humans can be very slow sometimes, don't you find?

hhhssssssssssssssssssssssssT!! cindeeeeeeee! you call that training? you're dummer than i thought
kitty friends, i'll tell you about training! not only have i got mum trained to come up from the basement to open the front door for me, i've got cindy trained to get her attention for me, so i don't have to yell. (i have a very sweet delicate voice, you know.) all i do is come to the front window and cindy bangs on it, then mum looks up and sees me and comes to the door. (then i don't have to run the gauntlet from the cat door through the family room, with cindy there, just to get upstairs which is where i'd rather be anyway.)

Buddy here again. Every morning, when Mom brushes her teeth, I sit on the sink and grab her free hand in my paws. This gets my chin and ears scratched. If she stops, I stand on my hind legs, put my front paws on her chest and try to kiss her. Since she doesn't like having to clean toothpaste foam, off of my face, she pets me some more. I've tried to play with her buzzy toothbrush but Mom won't share.
