I know plenty of sane animal rights people. PETA is just not included in that group.

I know that there are sane AR people in the world. Unfortunately for any of those people, the ones who are usually the most vocal are the ones who are freaks by most people's definitions. That's why I don't claim to be an Animal Rights Advocate, but define myself as an Animal Welfare Advocate. I don't want to be associated with PETA, and that's what Animal Rights has come to mean to the vast majority of the public at large.

In the Finnish AR scene PETA is a joke. I suppose that's true about the rest of Europe.

Theres ANOTHER thread on the same board about this. It makes me sooo mad!

When someone said that their cat likes meat a poster replied:

I don't understand the desire these people have to own carnvorous animals if they are not prepared to feed them properly.

Peta is mean to be about animal welfare and not using animals for selfish purposes, but i can't think of anything more selfish than feeding a meat eater a vegan diet.

If the animal could choose for itself it would choose meat. period.

That is because, free of moral implications, the animal knows whats best for its body and system.

There a millions of (mainly) vegan animals that need homes such as rabbits, hamsters, birds etc. If these people really cared about helping animals they would adopt these creatures instead.

WOW! You just made my mouth water BIG TIME saying that! There is NOTHING I love more to eat than RAW vegggies. Unfortunatly I have IBS and too many veggies and I am in the bathroom all day!

I agree with you all! Cats NEED MEAT!

I was on a Pet Prayers board last year and had to get off because I offended some with an email about Christians. They told me the ONLY Christians THEY knew were the one's that stuffed themselves with dead animals.

They owned cats adn dogs! Seeing what you all are saying makes me worry they made their babies into Vegans! IDIOTS!
