I can't believe so many of you straighten your hair! I am soooooooo glad I don't have to do that!!!! Blow drying it does the trick for me! I'd go insane and look like an ancient amazon woman before I'd get myself to put that much effort into my hair on a regular basis I think!

I am definately looking at the chi - but also looking at sedu, they seem to come highly rated also - plus they have the new tormaline that I am considering. Still more investigation...

I don't know what I'd do without my straightner! My hair is naturally thick and wavey (kinda of coarse too) so if I don't actually "style" my hair curly then it goes kinda frizzy, so I LIVE by my straightner. I always heard that the steam straightners are the best on your hair, it doesn't strip the moisture from your hair??
I actually need to buy a new one and was going to get a steam straightner but y'all are swearing by the ceramic ones so now I'm torn.

My hairdresser said steam ones are bad bad bad, as are the ones which are meant to dry your hair while you straighten, because the heat makes the water boil, therefore boiling your hair. Join the ceramic gang

One that I am borrowing is a ceramic one - that is touted as wet/dry - so that you can dry and flatten as you go. From what you guys are saying - and what I am reading on the net - bad idea.

I use conair and I love it.....I have become a pro at straighting my hair...the key is to get clips so you can clip the hair on top of your head to get to the back of your hair....

So I'm told and I can understand why when you think about it.

Yey for the masses of unmanagable hair!!

I have pretty curly, wavy, bumpy, spiraly hair. I used to straighten with the blow dryer thing with a brush on it and it would take ForEvEr!
Yey for the Conair ceramic plate thingy! I got one for Christmas too!
I saw the commerical for it and the chick just pulled it right through and it was flat at once. I thought 'Yeah. Right. Like its That simple.'
I tried it and holy cow! Straight in a sec! I am soooooo in
with it!

I sitll havent figured out the bestest way to get all of it done easy just yet .. I end up with my hair all parted in spots

Woohoo!

That's what I'm thinking.
I quit taking a flat iron to mine 3 years ago and it's SOOO much healthier now. It's nowhere near as dry, trims last longer, and it's shinier.
There's nothing wrong with naturally textured hair. Embrace your curls. They're beautiful.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is just green with envy.
You just have to know how to take care of them...believe it or not, it's easier and less expensive than straightening.

lol I have Asian-straight hair....can't curl it cause it won't hold! Buuut on the subject, I'd always heard that ceramic was better because it transfer the heat more evenly, so it works better. True or not, dunno!

Definately use the ceramic ones...mine is actually sapphire and it works well. I have really wavy frizzy hair so it's a must. Also you need to do a little section of hair at a time and go slow, otherwise repeatedly going over the same piece of hair causes split ends.
