For those of you who use flat irons - what do you like or not like about your iron? What brands are good or bad?

Inquiring mind - just have to know!

I love my straightener - I have a Revlon - its white, I got it at Target for under $20.00. My hair is naturally pretty straight so I really dont need a really high voltage one or anything like that

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I use GHD's and I don't know what I'd do without them. They cost me £95 which is just mad but they are worth every penny. I don't know if you get them abroad but they are the ones to have in the UK. Every salon uses them. I loooove them. Oh by the way GHD stands for Good Hair Day.

I received one for Christmas, but haven't used it yet. I have always heard ceramic is better for your hair.

I have a Chi ceramic iron. Very expensive, but it is what my hairdresser uses, and she recommended it.

I love it. My hair is thick, and wavy, and fairly coarse. I use the straightener almost every day. Now I can go two days between washes, because it lies flat and doesn't get clumpy. I can also use it for touch ups on days that I don't wash it, if that's necessary.

The biggest advantage is that I can go longer between hair cuts. I am trying to grow out bangs and some layering, and without this iron, I don't think I would have been able to stand it.

And even if I don't make the hair completely straight and flat, I can take out a lot of the volume, so it doesn't frizz out so much in damp weather.

Ceramic is good for your hair. I found a Hot Tools Ionic Iron at Big Lots for $14.99. I found out later that it is a professional use brand, and usually about 3x that amount. It is ceramic, and it works really well when I am not too lazy to use it.

I saw one of those at my salon as well - I wanted one so bad! But for me, it would not be worth it - I am glad you found something that works so well on your hair!

I heard those really are amazing!

I don't own a straightner but I always thought if I got one it would be the ceramic type.

I have a ceramic iron that I really like-- got it at Sally's Beauty Supply--if you have one near you you should check it out, they have a great selection and good prices.

One of my friends is going to let me borrow a ceramic flat iron to use this weekend - she also told me that the new tourmaline ceramic's are supposed to be the best. Keep the suggestions coming!

I've gone through a couple. I tried many around 20.00 but the first time i used a CHI i was hooked. Nothing made my hair look as good as the CHI did. I hated to spend the money so i saved up and went on ebay and found one for a good price. So now i have Chi Turbo...which i am very pleased with! A year and half ago, i'd say you were crazy for spending that kind of money but i think its so worth it. Besides, i found a great deal on ebay.

I have a Vidal Sassoon straightener.. my old one didn't seem to straighten as much as I liked, but the one I have now works great.
I think it was around $20.00.

Nothing wrong with curly hair! I have gone back and forth from kinda straight (too much body) to permed - all long hair styles. I've had the perm for years now - it is just time for me to go straight again.
Thinking of trying these new fangled hair styling products and flat irons.
