Mama just got spayed today and they put lube in her eyes while she was under anesthisia. Now her eyes are all sticky and she can't see very comfortably out of them. I tried using a wet cloth but that didn't help. Does anyone know what I can use to help 'ungunk' her eyes?

Warm salt water on a clean soft cloth should help. But remember to used boiled water that has cooled to a tepid temperature!

I hope it helps! If you are concerned about it, I would give your vet a call and ask them if they have any advice for cleaning it!

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave up and just used some older eye drops she had. I was afraid to because they were perscription but it worked perfectly

I'm glad her eyes are much better now, however, I wouldn't use old prescription meds as the problem could be something different and it could make things worse!

(Just come off the phone from asking my vet a question about just that!)

I too wouldn't use old eye drops. Just for future reference contact solution (the kind you store your contacts in) can be used as an eye flush in a pinch. It's just normal saline.

I did look up information on the eye drops before I used them. And they weren't 'old' just not brand new. They weren't prescribed for an eye infection, just as added moisture. I do understand the worry though because I too was worried. But thanks for the saline suggestion, I'll use that next time if I need to.
