I tried searching but couldn't find the information that has been posted for the Feline Hyper-T group. Is it a Yahoo group? Can someone post the link or name again for me?

PJ just got her blood tested yesterday - we noticed she'd lost a little weight - and the vet just called and PJ's out of whack again, so we're increasing the medication and she'll be checked out again in about a month. The good news is that she behaves absolutely normally... but apparently, her thyroid does not.

Thanks in advance!

Good for you for catching the weight loss. What dose is PJ on now?
I watch PJ like a hawk... she wasn't well cared for when we found her and consequently, we're paranoid about everything with her.

Until yesterday, it was 2.5mg Methimazole once daily - but now we're doing that twice for 5 total. I'm not sure if it's a consequence of us using a compounded gel in her ears instead of pills (she is horrible to pill, and I hate putting her through that). I don't think it is - she responded well to the gel and everything was quite good until just recently. I guess her physiology changes, just like mine!

I understand. Spot was my foundling too, and I have my vet's number memorized from calling it so often. It's always best when you can catch a change in behavior or physiology early.

Are her ears clean? I haven't used the transdermal, but I've heard that gunk could build up on the ears and interfere with absorption. That said, I know I've had to adjust Spot's dosage on the pills several times. They do go through changes over time and may need more or less methimazole than before.

Yep, she is the cleanest cat - everywhere! We periodically wipe her ears just to make sure - particularly when we see her scratching them more than normal and there's nothing else wrong with them.
She'll be rechecked at her annual exam in a month and a half, and hopefully she'll stabilize for a while!
