Video Games

Thread Starter
Just heard on Paul Harvey that video game sales last year hit a record $29 Billion. Not only that, but the average age of gamers is 29. So much for protecting the children.

I am not surprised. I love playing games and I am 29.

Hey, us 20-somethings are proof that life long addictions were formed. I love videogames, have several consoles, over 150 games.....yikes

That makes you so.... so...... average Kellye!

I thought the average age might be lower, but it doesn't surprise me.

Hate to say it, but Video Games for me provide more entertainment (And education on some, believe it or not) then the "stuff" on TV or in the Theatre's. The writing and the storylines for the most part are really well done and thought out. There's only a few TV shows I keep up with, but thats a rarity.

I contributed probably about $250 to that 29 Billion... but compare that to what I've spent on car repairs and it's nothing. Anyways, I love video games.

Well, my sig carries a pic of Link from Nintendo's Zelda game series. The reason 20 somethings are big vg fans with the average gamer at 29 years is because they began playing the Nintendo, Sega, and Playstation games during the time these games were introduced.

Those were the days! I remember my kids bugging me about buying the new Nintendo console, until I finally gave in. That was back in 1989.

Hubby and I are big Dr. Mario fans and still zapping viruses on the Nintendo 64 system! Does anybody remember Tetris?

i dont like the new stuff..i have actually been shopping ebay..for a super nintendo....old version

Get F.E.A.R ... it's awesome!
I love gaming too, and I'm 25. Tetris is great! Some of my all time favorites are FFX (not as a game, but as a story), MGS series, Half-life 1 and 2 and the Tony Hawk series (the last parts bring nothing new to the game though, I'd say 3 was the best).

I'd get F.E.A.R., but my video driver is a bit too slow for it, the demo was a touch jumpy.

Yep F.E.A.R is a system hog... my personal computer won't run it, so I have to use my brothers. He's really into the whole computer upgrdaing deal.

Battlefield2 which I play a lot of, takes up to a gig of ram on my machine which is fine since I have 2 gigs of memory Plus it helps I have a AMD Dual Core chip and a 7800GTX video card too

Yep, lol. That's what my bro has... a dual core AMD 3800 and a 6800 Ultra. Don't know about his memory and stuff, but that computer hauls. I'm currently looking at buying some local kids computer... it's a P4 640 (3.2), 1G DDR ram, X800xt 256mg, and some other good stuff. Not totally top of the line, but it'll do what I need it to do.

Good choice, I LOVE the old nintendo's, John's brother has the old one, I love it!! I'd rather play that than the newer stuff - although I do enjoy playing Simpsons Road Rage once in awhile!

I've been tempted to buy the x-box just to get the Madden football game..
I've never really had the patience for gaming, but Mike likes it.
Then I realized we would probably never leave the house or get anything else done, so I decided against it.

actually, get an older XBox and you can "mod" it. Meaning you can play the old sega systems, nintendo systems, even the old Caleco(sp), intellivision, atari, and even the old arcade games... no really.... heheheheh... A friend of mine did mine and it rocks!

I actually got a Super Nintendo for Christmas along with a few games. Somehow, I skipped from having an Atari 2600 to having an Xbox, Playstation 2 and Gamecube but never had any other systems so I was pretty excited.

And it makes me giggle that 29 is the average age, I'm 29 so it makes since but I still find it funny.

I've never been much of a game person. Most newer games make me sick. I mean litterally, like motion sickness or something! Even mario carts!

Not surprising at all. My husband is 30 and still loves video games. He really wants F.E.A.R.
