So i like NASCAR and Preseason Thunder starts soon on the Speed channel, but i dont have cable. SO i have to wait until they start showing races on tv.
But i can get my racing fix around here. My boyfriend races go-karts and this weekend we went to Dexter Ga for a race. it was really cold but fun. Except there are some no driving people there! LOL

I want to hear from you race fans and do you or a close friend family member race anything? Oh yeah and who is your favorite driver?

Tony Stewart Fan! But we have wars at my house. i am a lone fan. he likes Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch!

I'm a racing fan!! My favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Can't wait for the
bud shootout!

Jamie McMurray is my boy!!!!

I will also have to like Casey Mears this year since he'll be driving the Texaco car. I have always loved the Texaco car no matter who is in it.

GO JAMIE AND CASEY!!!

I'll tell you...I dated this mechanic for a few months back in the day and he nd his roommate would just sit there for hours watching Speed TV or whatever.... that stuff is hypnotizing! Round and round and round.....getting sleepy?

Another NASCAR fan here! Tony Stewart is my favorite driver, so I was a happy girl with the Championship last season. Can you believe that Daytona is just over a month away?

WHOA! A NASCAR fan that has to do without Speed Channel? I think you should write your congressman! LOL

I am big fan as well, I like all of the Ford drivers. As far as Speed Channel goes, they should make it a seasonal channel. This time of year its about as interesting as watching the cat poop. Id rather see it be a home improvement channel December thru February

And the Barrett-Jackson Auction is coming up soon too! We got hooked watching the start to finish coverage of that last year. Now that's on the Must Do list "when we win the lottery", according to my husband.

I have to say, with the announcement of the new channel lineups for the races this year it's going to be tough to watch without cable/satellite. Beginning and end will be on Fox and ABC, but the whole middle of the season will be on ESPN and TNT.

That's one of the best things about NASCAR: the off season is very short!!

Steve is a Nascar fan. I will admit hes rubbing off on me a little bit. My driver although he hasnt won in a long time is Bobby Labonte. I have liked him for a long time. (my family is nascar oritented i just never watch..as much until Steve)

Steves driver Was Rusty Wallace
Its now Dale Jr.

Now...we talk horse racing fans i think you are onto something hehhe
post #12 of 29
Roush Racing! I'll go for anyone of those drivers, usually Martin.

I can't wait for Daytona! The Pre-Season races are fun, but let us count POINTS people!!! *grin*

I like Elliott Sadler and the #38 M&M's Ford Taurus, soon to be Fusion. And for those "in the know" about past seasons, it just isn't Talladega for me unless Elliott goes across the start/finish line on the roof.
Me & DH never miss a race..Hubby's a Tony Stewart fan and i
like Rusy Wallace ( now he's retired ) & Jimmy Johnson

I think he was happier about finishing on all 4 in Oct. LOL

I use to be interested in NASCAR. I loved watching Dale Earnhart 'slice' thru the competition . His death made me cry and it hasn't been the same since. Now throw in espn and take out Winston and the 'mix' is near nauseous to me.

Here is my 1991 Camaro that was setup for racing on road courses. If you look carefully, you can see some of the six-point rollcage and the window net. Note the extra-wide , light-in-weight wheels and the BFG R1's on them. That's a road course known as Roebling Road and it's near Savannah, GA. Here's frontal shot of it just waiting to hit the 2.5 mile track at Road Atlanta. 'We' surprised a few "real" sports car from time-to-time.

I used to be a huge fan, but since Dale Earnhardt died, it has taken some of the fun out of it. I don't like all the nit picky new rules and the tracks that are all the same. It was a lot more fun when they just got on the track, ran the race, and sorted out the problems with a brawl in the pits afterward. The first race that was televised ended with Richard Petty jumping out of his car and smacking another driver, and Mrs. Petty fending off others with her huge purse.

I know what you guys mean about Dale. He was my favorite, and then after he passed, Kenny Irwin was my favorite, and he was killed too.

So hopefully nothing will ever happen to McMurray or Mears.

When I was younger, we lived with my Grandparents and my Grandpa is a big racing fan - so I have grown up watching it as well. I remember sitting with him watching racing on Sunday's in my little pink dresses (My mom insisted on always dresing me in pink and frilly things ), telling him "Grandpa-I wanna be on a pit crew" He used to just laugh at me all the time and told me that I could if I wanted to,...yeah right!

What do you think about the female drivers that are starting to make names for themselves (Danica Patrick etc)

I think it's cool.

And I also think that all of the male drivers that complain about her being so fast because she is so little are full of it. What's the difference between her being her size and racing, or if there was a really short guy that weighed the same as her. They are just mad about her being good at what she does. (this coming from a guy too )

I am very happy for Danica though.

I love Danica, I think she's awesome
I got to watch Danica race here at Richmond last year ... my hubby works for Philip Morris USA and last year, they celebrated 50 years of Marlboro. They gave all the employees free tickets to the race, a pit pass, a photo op with the Marlboro Team and they had a lovely tent for us with beer and food. I like the open wheel cars just as well as the stock cars! And I love the road race tracks! Watkins Glen is a fun race to watch.

I went to my first ever NASCAR race in Sept -- Dover Downs MBNA 400. I have to admit, I didn't "get it," never did understand the allure of the races. Yet, 150K people pack the stands and spend tons of money and still have fun. I thought it might have to do with the BYOB aspects...but my dad and his buddy are real big fans and neither of them drink...so I thought maybe the social aspect? Even when you go "down below" to get food or whatever, it's still so loud, you can't talk to anyone.

So I figured what the heck? I think Dale Jr's hot, I'll go see what this is all about!!!

Well...I gotta admit, I still don't really "get it" but I was hooked...looking forward to going again next year

Jimmie Johnson is also a fave, but b/c of the car he drives...I am gal who loves Lowe's

I wanna see a female do good in the NASCAR Ranks.....so far it hasnt happened. However I think it will soon. Mike Wallace has a daughter, Chrissy that races around here. Shes 17 and shes a pistol for sure. Last year she ran Legends and she dont take no crap off anyone. Last word was that she will be stepping into a Late Model ride for 2006, but im not sure. I really think she will go all the way.

I am so excited to see girls finally breaking into the sport. But i really want some one to do really well. We have a few girls around here that race the local dirt track but they are scared to wreck and end up causing wrecks and are just bad drivers.
I am going to open a can of worms here, but I wish women would stay out of NASCAR. There are enough nit picky rules, and that would cause more IMO. There are things in this world that should be just for men, and things that should be just for women. Neither one better, just different.

I dont agree that they should stay out. i do agree that SOME should not be in. the ones that are scared and dont want to get into wrecks should just stay home. i dont think there shudl be special rules for women but i think they should be allowed in the sport!

I am a racing fan as of this past season thanks to Trav! I am a die-hard Kasey Kahne fan! We have a stand-up of him in our living room and let's just say....he isn't to hard on the eyes either

We also like Rusty but it's sad he retired
