Ok I just bought a new home a few months ago and I dont have me a lady to help clean

Anyways, I left a pot in my kitchen sink that apparently rusted on the bottom from the moisture. Now I have this rust ring in my sink.....and it wont come off with a steel wool pad. Somebody gimme a heloise idea or something.

I know its not about cats, but I know theres plenty of women here that can help LOL If all else fails, its Cougar's fault LOL

Soft Scrub with bleach works pretty well. That, and washing your dishes immediately.

Good luck!

If you have chlorox bleach, stop up the sink, pour a small amount of bleach in the sink and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse with hot water-

Failing that, use toothpaste and rough cleaning pad, not one that scratches.

Use comet and a little bit of water and make a thick paste, put the paste over the ring, let that sit for 15 minutes, then scrub and rinse

What is the sink made of metal, porcelin, corian?????
For my tough stains (do I sound like a commercial) I use a product called Barkeepers Friend-its like cleaner. As hissy stated I sprinke on quite heavy and add a teeny bit of water to make a paste and let sit 15 minutes or so. Use a metal scrubby pad like chore boy to (or sos pads). Hope this helps!!

If your sink is white (porcelain or ceramic), use soft scrub. And, scrub it a whole lot. Til your hands are raw. If it's stainless steel, use stainless steel cleaner. Scrub til your hands are raw.

Or, worst case -- if the sink is ruined, just replace it. Sinks don't cost that much and putting a new faucet in & a new sink is an easy job. Even for a man, I think.

You might also look into a product called "C L R" ... stands for Calcium, Lime, Rust and I think it's a green bottle. I used it to remove stains from my bathroom sink. Just make sure you check the label to make sure it's safe for the material in your sink. Also, it's VERY caustic so wear gloves and be careful.

That's ok, that's what The Cat Lounge is for!
All the others gave great suggestions. I'd say, yes - Comet DOES work wonders. Hope you get your sink clean!!

A hurtful assumption to say the least! Unless you're asking something about pregnancy or periods, nothing should be relegated to just women!

But you can use toothpaste to dissolve rust and tarnish.

Umm, the majority of the site are women and I don't think he meant it that way. I mean another member is asking women how to cook. Nothing wrong with that - its probably true that women do know more about cleaning than men. It doesnt sound like he was thinking all women are good for cleaning - let it go.

Well my advice. Ummm. I agree with the elbow grease. Ive been there and done that. The flylady.net website says to leave bleach in the sink for an hour and then clean it afterwards. I did that and the sink always came out looking like it was brand new.
