How fast is too fast?? I hear of cats loosing a lb a week( I know this is too fast) ... is a lb a month okay?( on a ten lb cat that is 10% of total body wt) a lb every other month??

I get these questions all the time and other than talk to your vet ... that is usually replied with my vet says all is goodthat was the cat loosing a lb a week

Since my cat has been on diet she has lost 4 lbs over 4mths so I think 1lb a month sounds accurate.

According to my vet, cats should lose NO MORE than 1/2lb/month body weight. Anymore then that and the risk of health issues related to the weight loss increase.
