I moved to NC this past July after being a New York-uh for 46 years. Actually I lived in Central New York for half of that time (a lot of people think "NY" ends at the Brooklyn border, but there is another 420 miles of NY past that
) Where I lived we had two seasons: Winter and August 25th.
I was literally indoors 6 months out of the year. We sometimes had sunshine 4-5 days...out of the MONTH! Average snowfall about 120 inches a winter. My snowblower was my best friend. Oh how I loved snowblowing a foot and a half of snow at 11PM in 5 below zero weather, only to get up in the morning to see that the Town's snow plows had left 2 feet of ice chunks at the front of my driveway.
The joy of it all, for 20 straight years.

Now...... it is Jan 16 and Im in shorts, and a light fleece!!
Im walking my dogs outdoors, there are blue skies and sun almost daily.
I barbecue out back at 9PM if I want. The snowblower and snow shovels are gone, gone, gone. (Another perk, my property taxes are 1/5 of what they were in NY, I LOVE that). So I am a yankee in the deep South, along with a lot of other yankees that have seen the light (literally) and moved down here. Life moves at a slower and more normal pace, people tell me to "come back again" at stores I go to, and they mean it. Family members come to visit us here in NC because they consider it a "vacation" being in the nice weather during the harsh Northeastern Winter. Im in NC and loving it.
One day I'll retire, and I won't even have to move.

hey welcome to NC! I have lived here about 3 years myself. Actually I have met a lot of people here that are from NY...and PA. Theres a lot of people from up North here for some reason. Just dont get used to the warm weather, this is a unusual winter so far. It dont normally do this....usually in 20-30's for highs (which may still be warm compared to where youre from)

WOW, what a huge change, congratulations!!! Sounds like you're having a really great time. Here in CT, there's snow & slush & ice on the ground...and it's 60 degrees out!? Crazy. And tomorrow I think it's supposed to go back into the 30's again. I would love to get out of this mess for a little while, but still I'm a New Englander, I think I'll always stay here.

So how's the weather there? Like spring?? Sounds great.

Welcome to NC! I've been here for about 4.5 years now and boy do I love it!!! I never want to leave
. I moved from NH where I lived most of my life (besides briefly in MT and CO) so the weather was such a wonderful change. I came here for college and now am fully-employed and have no interest in going elsewhere!

Welcome to the south ladies (& Gentlemen)!! I love it!!
I went to visit my dad a couple of times in Bristol, NH and was always more than happy to come back home!! I made a stop in Boston once... That was the scariest thing I've ever done!! People looked at me like I was an axe murderer for holding doors open and smiling...

GOD BLESS THE SOUTH!!

BTW, this has been a weird winter.. I'm actually worried that it's going to be miserable this Summer if these warm temps are any indication...

I always liked NC because we always got at least one snow fall that was all gone in a couple days. But no snow so far this year
. It has been unusually warm. We've only had one little bit of ice and that wasn't anything.

This has definately been a strange year.....but I'm not complaining. I'm glad that the last few days have been "cool"...hopefully that will cause the mating to slow down for a while. Not looking forward to kitten season this year.

I worked at Bass Pro Shop there while in school, that mall can be a nightmare sometimes because of traffic
