I cannot decide on whether I want to go to Vegas or Aruba for vacation this October. Post your pros and cons on either place if you've experienced them. It will help in my decision as I cannot decide at all.

Never been to either, but I think it would depend on what type of vacation you're looking for! I mean- relaxing, adventurous...gambling, money-spending etc. or tourism & stuff??

Where ever you go, I hope you have a great time too!

Isn't Aruba more of a tropical paradise? I would definitely go there. Vegas (the buildings, the gambling, busy streets) isn't my style.

But like sweetiecat3 said, it's gotta have what you want to do! Have fun! (I'm jealous)

I've been to vegas, I haven't been to Aruba. I would guess that the deciding factor is if you are looking for relaxation or entertainment. I would assume that if you are going to Aruba you are probably going to an all inclusive beach resort, which would be relaxing and fun.

This is a summary of what to expect in Vegas. Bring comfortable shoes. You will do a lot of walking in the casinos. it's great for gambling (duh). Also every casino has a buffett, prices do vary, but usually they are pretty good. You can find all sorts of entertainment, such as thrill rides, 3d movies, shows, etc. There is shopping everywhere and every casino has a theme. Mgm has the lion habitat which is really cool for a cat lover. You can also go downtown to old vegas and see the light show on the ceiling. Transportation, this has improved, they now have a monorail for which you can buy a pass. They also have a bus service, which you will need to get downtown. There is also trans between some of the casinos. I would reccomend staying on the strip for you first trip. This time of year the weather is probably in the 60s to 70's. It does get cool at night. Your hotel may have an outdoor pool which you can use.

It looks like Vegas it is. I've been researching and would rather go to Vegas. I'm looking at staying at the Mirage now also.

I was in Vegas in october. Lots and lots of shopping!!! Casears Palace forum shops are the best!!! And do spend the money and book a ticket to see one of the Cirque de Soliel shows. I saw "Ka" and it was awesome!!!! You can get some pool time in too. We rode the buses around and that wasn't too bad. PM me if you want more info!!

Being a beach bum, I would go to Aruba. I'm awful at gambling and never have any luck at it anyway! My BF and I are planning a cruise this Sept. to the Cayman Islands and Jamaica!!

Ah I JUST went on the cruise you're talking about in October with my best friend! It was my 3rd cruise and by far the best, most exciting, amazing vacation I have EVER had! We go on one every year so we're currently in the process of pickng where to go this year!

But, being as that I too am SUCH a beach bum and a lover of tropical paradises I would pick Aruba over Vegas any day of the week. Of course you've already made your decision, so I hope you have a FANTASTIC time!

I went on a cruise almost 5 years ago now that also went to St. Thomas and St. Maarten and I have to say that while I adored both places I found St. Maarten to be the more beautiful. We did the neatest tour there where we checked out all of these local artists and got to see what their inspirations were. I just loved it there! And as Imentioned in my last post, count me in as another cruise addict!!!!

We toured St. Maarten and I don't know if it was the tour we took or what, but it just felt dirty. But you did go 3 years before I did so things might have changed. I dunno!
I can't wait to go on this one though!! I just wish cruises weren't so darned expensive!!!

I know what you mean! That's the exact reason we try to book them for somewhere inbetween August-November. The prices are literally HALF of what they are in April-July!!!
