My kitten of 8 weeks just had diarrhea for the first time. I am worried as to the causes of it and any necessary actions that I should take. I've been feeding her the same dry food as the pet store but I've been mixing wet food with it also (Friskies Loaf) because it was reccommended to do so. She's lively, alert, eats, drinks and plays. Other than this incident of diarrhea, she seems to be in good health. Any advice for any necessary and further actions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I would put her on IAMS kitten food, not all at once, but slowly, Any changes in diet that are sudden will result in diarrhea for cats and kittens. Their systems are just that sensitive.

She is on Iams dry food and Friskies wet. I got her on Friday and her stool for yesterday or this morning had been fine...tonight I noticed the diarrhea and was alarmed. Thanks for the food tip though, I'll keep an eye out for anything else in the next couple of days.

I would put her on IAMS canned and IAMS dry they do well with that mixture. Just be sure she doesn't get dehydrated. While she is at rest, pinch her neck lightly then let go, if the skin stays tented up get her to the vet quickly

One bout of diarrhea is not necessarily anything to be alarmed about. Just keep a close eye on the litterbox and see if it clears up today.

HAs she had a vet check since you got her? One very common cause in kittens is worms or parasites.

Kittens can be very mouthy at that age. She could have bitten down/licked something that upset her stomach. If the diarreah continues then you definitely want the vet to check her stool for parasites just in case.
