I am possibly moving - within the next few months due to problematic neighbours..... (but that's a very long story).

Anyway, I might have to move in with my parents or sister until everything is sorted but the thing is Guinness HATEs strangers. In the two years that I have had him he has only every let one other person stroke him or even go near him.. If my parents or sister or anyone else come round now he runs out into the garden. The standing joke is that ppl don't think I really have a cat as they never see him!!!

So how do I handle moving in somewhere with him on a temp basis? Will I might have to keep him to one room?
He really will be petrified 100 times more than normal.

Gilly, sorry you and Guinness are having to go through this!

Molly is timid and doesn't really like people either, but when I had to stay at my parents' for a while - both Tibby and Molly adjusted surprisingly well. I know it's a bit different, as my kits are indoor, but I'm confident that Guin will surprise you!

As he's going to be in a different area, I believe that it's suggested that you keep him in the house for at least two weeks. Maybe you could buy a couple of Feliway Plug-ins and get them going before you move in?!

Does he know your parents and sister? Maybe you could slowly introduce them to him - in the time you have left?! I'm trying out Felifriend at the moment, which helps cat's to feel familiar with the people around them - you could possibly give that a go for him?!!

I hope someone will have some more ideas for you and good luck with it all!

I agree with Sarah. Get some of your things over their now to get your scent in place and vice versa some of your parents clothes and your sis's so the scent is familiar.
Bobs is the scardy cat in the family however she has warmed up to mom, dad and sis. She will be in the same room and sis could carry bobs around.
Goo luck with the move.
