Cat humping "problem"

Hi! I have two 7 month old cats. Male and female. The female has been "in heat" for quite a few days now. I noticed that the male has a problem... he does it wrong!

He tries numerious times to hump her, he gets on top of her, holds the top of her neck with her mouth, has both legs on either side of her... all is great but he doesn't put his "thing" into her! He could hold her there for 5 minutes! until she gets fed up and pushes him off! He does this like 10 times a day!

Is there some kind of "sex school" for cats?? Is he stupid? Isn't sex with animals supposed to come natural to them? Is he just to young to know what to do? Or is this all normal behavior?

If you are serious, I have to be the first to ask - why are you letting them do this? They are both far too young to mate, even if they want to. To have kittens at this age would endanger your female's health, and she is only a baby herself, so her kittens might be compromised as she may not take care of them properly. I hope they are not brother and sister, or any kittens have extra risk of genetic problems. They should both be neutered immediately, then you will have two happy healthy cats. Cats who are not neutered are also liable to get far more diseases later in life, including cancer.

These cats are much to young to be mating! Please do get them neutered, as you cats will be much happier and healthier - as Jenny mentioned!

I see from your other post that they are brother and sister and that you cannot keep them. PLEASE separate them until you can take them to a shelter or organisation that can care for them, including neutering. If you let them outside they will contribute to the problem of stray cats and probably have short sad lives.

Why are you allowing a brother and sister to mate, or attempt to mate? There are all kinds of problems that can come from that. Plus like others mentioned, they are way way too young to mate. If you really cannot keep them then why are you letting them do this? Please neuter them immediately.
