Is it normal for cats to sleep most of the day and remain awake most of the night and when do they normally deliver is it anytime or do they usually do it at a particular time of day?
Just wondering.

Cat's are normally nocternal. They have been known to adapt to our schedules, but not all the time. In the case of delivery, they can deliver at any point and time, but in my experience, they like to wait until the middle of the night..lol.

ok, so if they like to wait until the middle of the night will i hear her or can you give me some idea, i only had one cat that delivered once in my lifetime and she tried to bite me. but i was petting her to help her feel better and thought she was just in pain. she never made a noise at all.

From my experience, when cats are giving birth, they prefer to do it in the middle of the night, with nobody around. They like to be alone during this. I know it's hard to let them be and wait for the wonderful kitties to be born into this world. But she bit you because she is saying, give me some space. I just stayed in the same room as my cat, and let her alone. Have fun!!!

I think it depends on the cat too. If they deliver in the middle of the night, no you may not hear them. Having done this for ahwile, I watch for signs like being restless, sleeping all the time, not eating much etc. I will stay up and watch them if I know they are due. All my cats so far would rather I be with them. Last night everytime I got up to get something, she would cry until I came back. If you are there when she delivers, just sit quietly and watch, if she wants to be touched, she will let you know. Just make sure she's somewhere she can't run off and hide the babies.

The only cat we ever had that had kittens had them on my sweetie's pillow, while he was sleeping on it. It was Saturday morning after a particularly late Friday night. He woke up to a wet pillow and a kitten almost born. He tried so hard to get my attention without disturbing her. It was hilarious!
