hello all, I'm really happy to have found this site. already I can tell that the moderators of this site are 10x's better and freindlier than a site that we are members of for our 1 year old Boxer. myself and my fiance have one kitty, "george" whom we rescued two weeks ago. he's awsome! 6 months old sandy tabby. sleek and energetic. i'm about to search on this site though for problems concerning loose stool combined with a hairball type hacking. he's been thoroughly checked for parasites and given a physical by our vet less than two weeks ago. i'm not sure what is going on. i wanted to get two of is siblings but my fiance', a dog kinda person, wouldn't have it. i'm a navy vet and she is in human resources. we look forward to exploring the wealth of info here and also contributing any way that we can. good to be here. -brad.

Welcome Brad & George

If you cant find the answers to your questions please post a thread in the relevant section and we will all do what we can to help. Loose stools... possibly because of the change of food over the past 2 weeks. We advise when food is being changed that it is done gradually. Was he rescued from a shelter or off the street? If from a shelter are you feeding him the same food as they had or different?

As with the hairball hacking... if he is not bringing up hairballs it could also be a type of flu. You can get 'cat laxatives' that you put on the cats paw and they will lick off - this will help him pass the hairballs if in fact it is
hairballs.

anyway just a few questions for you to think about and mention if you post in the health forum.

Please send me or another mentor a message if you need any help at all in the forums.

welcome again from me and my boys

Welcome Brad and kitty George!
I'm sorry that you are having some health problems with George. 6 months is rather young to have continuing coughing due to hairballs in my opinion. Have you talked to your vet again about his coughing?

I'm sorry to hear that George is poorly and you weren't able to bring home his siblings too!

I hope you find out what is making poor George poorly and have him back to full health in no time!

I look forward to hearing more about George and seeing pictures of him and hope to get to know you in the other forums!
