cat humping !

hi havent been on here for a while !

My kitten is 5 months old and has started humping his toys !

Is it normal for his age ?

i thought ill ask you guys first instead of the vets laughing at me !

Sounds like it's time for the snip-snip! Cats reach sexual maturity at different ages (just like people) and it seems you've got an early bloomer. Probably should get him neutered soon so he doesn't start spraying.

I agree sounds like snip time. At the shelter we actually had a 10 week old kitten doing this to his sister. However, he either learned it from watching the 10 year old (NEUTERED) male we have that likes to do it to his room mate (SPAYED) or there is some intsinct. He was obviously unable to get her pregnant, but he was definatly humping her. When some cats do it to another cat it can be a dominance game.

Sounds like the young man needs the Bob Barker treatment.

That'll stop all the affection towards inanimate objects!

should i take the toy away from him or just let him get on with it untill appointment ?

I'd just let him have his fun.

No one will be getting hurt, after all.

He'll probably continue after the fix, but not quite so "vigilantly" So let him keep his buddy!
